general POV

Izuku wiped his lip of blood and turned back to face Uraraka.

"You know, You punch pretty hard." He remarked, tenderly touching his lip. She shrugged.

"I guess. Are you okay though? You didn't lose a tooth or anything, right?" Ochako asked, loosening her wrist. The two had been training on the beach for the last few hours, switching between quirks and hand to hand combat. Uraraka had thrown up around four times, and Midoriya's fingers stopped functioning every twenty minutes or so.

"Yeah I'm fine, if you don't count the fact my arms are aching." He groaned, stretching his hands out in front of him. Ochako flopped down on her shabby picnic blanket, complaining about her stomach ache. He sat down next to her and shook the sand out of his jacket, pulling it over his head. Ochako stretched her legs out, effectively digging them deeper into the sand. It was nice to take a break, especially with a friend.

Midoriya's phone started to ring, jolting them both out of their bubble. He fumbled for his phone to check it.

"It's 6 already?! I've got to start getting ready for the exam, uhh..." Izuku scrambled to gather his things, and Ochako hastily started to do the same. "Do you want me to walk you back to your house?" He asked, pulling on his shoes. She froze at his offer.

A boy walking me home? Yikes... How would mom and dad react?! I wasn't even supposed to go out last night anyways. And I know they'll be home since its their day o-

"Uraraka? Do you want me to walk you back to your house or?" She shook her head.

"Nope! Thanks for the offer though!" She called, running off the beach. Midoriya squinted at her retreating figure.

"See you at the exam then!" He called, cupping his hands around his mouth. She gave him a small thumbs up.

I hope she'll be okay walking home alone... It's still dark out after all, He thought, looking out at the orange tinted horizon.

Midoriya stared up at the school ahead of him. He had once dreamed of going to this place, but now, he slightly despised it. Of course his growing dislike for the hero community was shared with the rest of the league, and the idea of this spy mission felt easy as breathing. Afterall, as Ochako had explained it, It was for the better. Somebody shoved him from behind.

"Outta my way, nerd!" They growled. Midoriya straightened up and stared at Bakugo's retreating back. If only using his quirk wouldn't get him in trouble. He was nearing the entrance when he heard someone calling his name.

"Deku! Wait up!" Uraraka was running towards him, pulling her backpack onto her shoulder. He raised his hand in greeting. I wonder why she's in such a rush. The exam starts in 15 minutes. Uraraka skidded to a halt in front of the staircase. "I don't think I've ever been so nervous for something in my entire life," She remarked, hopping up the white stairs. He followed behind her.

"Why? We spent months training to get in for-" He lowered his voice a little. "The league, and- Oh." He stopped in his tracks. Uraraka nodded as they entered the building.

"If we flunk this test it's over. For good too." The light faded as they closed the door behind them. The auditorium was dimly lit and filled with the chatter of other kids. The two found some open seats in the fifth or sixth row, next to some tall kid with glasses.

"I wonder if what Kurogiri told us about the exam is right," Midoriya whispered. Ochako glanced at him.

"About the robots? He was positive that he was, so we should both be able to pass." The screen at the front of the auditorium flickered as they exchanged whispers. Somebody tapped Deku on the shoulder. It was the kid with glasses. His face was stern and his eyes seemed dull.

DId this kid hear us talking? Nobody's supposed to know about Kurogiri and Shigaraki. At least not yet...

"Excuse me, but could the two of you please stop talking? It's disrespectful since the exam is about to start." She let out a sigh of relief while Midoriya started to frantically apologize to him. The microphone crackled to life and a banana- haired man, also known as Present Mic, launched into a spiel about the exam.

People ran through the gate, searching for the closest robot to score points from. Chaos happened within seconds. Uraraka took off running, leaving him behind in the dust. He remembered the advice Kurogiri had given him.

"There's an off switch on the robots near the bottom of the left leg. It is easy reach and earns you points." He recalled, chasing down a three-pointer.

Ochako was verging on a nausea headache, and she had a considerably low amount of points, but that didn't really stop her from continuing. Broken robots littered the exam area.

If one thing became clear to them, it was that this exam was something easier said than done.
