Yup, this entire chapter is all about the appearance of the characters. They messed it up so bad that it gets an entire thing all about it.
Percy: I will grudgingly admit that they (excluding the age-up) did a considerably good job with this casting. I would have liked it a bit more if Logan's hair were longer in the second one, but whatever. I still think of him as Percy, and he's on my massive fancast as Poseidon (no it's not posted on here it's on a fancasting website and I am currently transferring it)
Luke was AMAZINGLY done appearance wise. Like he had the blonde hair and blue eyes and everything was just about how I imagined Luke, but he needed a scar. That was very important and they left it out, so really guys? The age is right too. If the movies were well done, I think I would have cast him.
Grover was ehhhhhh..... looked nothing like Grover. If they were going for diversity, friendly reminder you probably can't get more diverse than Uncle Rick. But my only problem for Grover is personality. Grover is supposed to have curly hair, acne, be pale, and scrawny, but they made him black, muscular and tall. I am perfectly fine with black Grover, but NOT Grover with huge muscles.
Clarisse was no. Just no. In the book, she's described as buff, big, and mean looking, but the movie unsurprisingly made her a smiley girl with a slim body and not muscular really at all.
You can probably tell I'm putting her aside. Soooo.... we have The Annabeth Problem. There are a gazillion blonde celebrities out there that fit the stupid age-up thing, but they couldn't find ONE. They didn't EVEN BOTHER DYING HER HAIR until movie two, which now makes it lack consistency. Alexandra Daddario wasn't athletic at the time of Percy Jackson filming, and get this: SHE WAS A 22 YEAR OLD PRETENDING TO BE SIXTEEN!!! She has bright blue eyes, and being 22, she should sure as Hades be able to use contacts! Like, the only reason Daniel Radcliff didn't wear green contacts was he was allergic to something in it! This is just the beginning of The Annabeth Problem. AND BACK TO THE HAIR DYE!!!! It wasn't even well done! F+ for effort! And her hair is as straight as iron. Also, why is she always wearing pink or purple? (I wear a lot of that, I'm wearing pink leggings right now) Annabeth would only wear a camp shirt, and seeing as they too those away, she'd probably wear a sea green *wink wink* or another color like blue *wink wink* or grey.
Poseidon had like red or strawberry blonde hair sooooo...... um........ how about no?
Can we talk about Persephone for a moment? I really don't think that dress is appropriate for nine year olds, which is the target age of the series. The dress is legit about to fall off and the necklace is going to go sliding.
