Rory sat on the bed in her old bedroom reading a book when she hears a knock on the door.
"Come in." She softly yells.
The door opened and she saw a very familiar leather jacket with a grey hoodie on it with Jess being the man wearing it.
"Isn't this a blast from the past?" Jess laughed, sitting on the other side of the bed with Rory.
"Had enough of Luke?" She giggled.
"No, he actually brought me with him. Listen." He motioned.
"I just don't get why not getting little cookies tomorrow is such a big deal." They heard Luke grumbled.
"Because, having a bridal shower with those cute little cookies people can eat after their meal is just right." Lorelai argued.
"And you thought of this just now? Not, I don't know, last month when we were making our final decisions for the menus for both the wedding shower and the wedding itself?"
"Okay, mister, I'm just saying it'd take two seconds to whip up a batch of cookies."
"Says the one that'd pour the entire bag of sugar in the mix of cookies."
"Oh, I would not. Even if I did, it's our wedding so."
"Ours. As in, I'd like to avoid the whole people dying from sugar overdose incident."

Rory and Jess laughed hearing Rory's mother and Jess' uncle fight continuously over the cookies.
"Remember that time I wanted to sneak out and you said no because Sookie made a bunch of food?" Jess asked.
"Yes." She laughed. "What about it?"
"Well, Sookie's not here, we're getting old, let's go." He laughed.
"Deal. One thing," Rory said as she walked towards the bedroom door. "Mom, Luke, we're sneaking out the window, please don't kill each other."
"K honey." Lorelai yelled.

Rory and Jess snuck out of the window and walked around Stars Hallow. Barely anyone was walking around in the town square and it was peaceful.
Jess avoided looking at Rory as he had already spent years trying to get over her. He dated blondes, brunettes, work-a-holics, lazy girls, but none of them were Rory. He came close to loving a girl named Terra, before she broke it off to move to Ireland for a job oppurtunity.
Jess and Terra dated for a good few months, he had even considered telling her that he was falling for her until she broke the news she was leaving. Jess was used to people in his life leaving, but he never let it get to him like it used to. The pain of his mother, father, basically everyone leaving him with the exception of his uncle, Luke, used to hurt him in ways he thought wouldn't be repairable, but as he moved out and was on his own, he learned how to move past this pain.
Jess and Rory continued to walk in silence, but it wasn't an uncomfortable silence.

"When are you going back to Philly?" Rory asked.
"Not for a couple of days, why?" Jess walked with his typical posture, hands behind his back.
"I was just curious." She laughed.
"You don't have the same spark you used to." Jess confessed his thoughts about her.
"What?" She looked at him with a look of question and disbelief.
"You're more laid-back."
"I grew up, Jess." Rory looked at him with a sad smile.
