I have only ever taught three people how to use their Life Energy.

Out of those three, I have only ever met one who caused me so much anxiety.

I know there is the matter of talent to consider, but it is insane to think someone could fail to this point.

"O-kay, let's start over... Close your eyes and take deeeeeep breaths..." I said calmly, trying unsuccessfully to squish the raging chicken of irritation in my heart.

"WHOOOO-HAH..." excessively loud intake and exhale of breath.

"Now, let your mind relax. There is heat climbing slow-ly up your fee... to your ankles... to your shins... through your knees... up your thighs... through your belly... and your chest... down your arms... up your neck..." I took a soft breath, "It's at your chin now, going to your lips... your nose... your eyes... your forehead and to the very, very top of your head... Do you feel it?"

"Yes," a whisper, keep the feeling intact.

"Good. Now let your mind wander..." I paused for half a minute, or so. "What do you see?"

"Swirls... red swirls..."

"That is your life energy, it fills your whole body. It is your body. Do you understand?" I asked, my voice low and slow.

A nod. Her eyes were closed, her face relaxed.

"Your hands can hold more energy than the rest of your body. It moves around, gathering in different places all the time, but now you have to will it into your hand. Chose a hand and make a swirl of energy go there."

Kyuu's fingers began to glow a faint red, as if someone had stuck a flashlight against them.

"You're doing this well. Now, pull the swirl of out one of your fingers. Slowly."

She frowned, hesitating. Her hand dimmed slightly.

"Don't worry so much, I'll teach you how to bring it back in a second. There is absolutely no risk in doing this, right now. I'm here."

Her face relaxed a bit and her index began to glow a bright red.

"Good, you're doing great. Continue on pulling the swirl through..." A string of red flew from her finger and floated in the air before her. "Perfect! You can open your eyes now."

Kyuu opened her hazel eyes tinted with worry.

Well, she had failed all the forty-seven times previously, so it's obvious she wouldn't have thought that she would actually get it. A gasp escaped her lips as she saw the red swirl float freely through the air before her.

"I did it, Craft!" she cried, giving me a bear hug that sucked all the air in my lungs and sent it to another dimension, never to be seen again.

"Yeah" hack, cough "You did" hack, cough "it, alright..."

Unfortunately, the red swirl danced through the air and got tangled with the web I'd put over the room two hours before.

"Ahhh!" We cried in horror. All that work I'd done to weave a net that would keep out the bad energies and now it was getting hopelessly tangled with a single thread of energy. I could see it caving in towards Kyuu now.

Terrified about feeling her life energy get knotted with someone else’s' (she probably thinks it’s an evil spirit, though) she began to reel her life string back in.

"Well, you've already learned how to bring it back it seems, but you're totally destroying my safety net!" I exclaimed, working hard to try and untangle it.

I made a space around the Inextricable Knot by shooing the other strands away before getting started on pulling the strings appart.

"Ah!" Kyuu yelped, suddenly tugging on her string ferociously.

"Nononono! I'm trying to undo it Kyuu and you just made it worse!" I screamed my frustration.

"Explain what you're doing then!!!" She replied furiously, her cheeks were turning a deep shade of crimson.

"You have to let some of the thread out, slowly... Okay, stop. STOP! Now just let me do this a sec." I tugged some threads this way and that, before finally finding the end of her string. I took that instead and unwound it from the rest. Ten tiring minutes later, the knot was finally free.

"Okay... You can reel the whole thing back now..." I told her, crashing onto a chair. Toby and Jo had left only an hour ago, but I already missed them.

"What was that, anyway?" Kyuu asked me angrily, stomping over to a chair opposite mine.

"I put up a protection net... I didn't expect your Life energy to get tangled with it, sorry..." I was too exhausted to even bother to argue.

"What's a protection net?" she asked, eyes gleaming, her curiosity quickly stomping out her anger.

"Ugh..."

Will this day ever end?
