"I did not say superpowers. This isn't something out of a comic book."
The diminutive woman in the passenger's seat masked her frustration with a smile. "I understand that, Benny. But seriously, levitation? Making things disappear? Telling the future? They're going to think we're running a carnival."
"Perhaps we are?" the stout, bearded man beside her suggested. "We have legitimate, scientific proof of the paranormal abilities magicians and fortune-tellers claim to possess."
"Except those claims always fall apart under the microscope."
"Until now!" One meaty hand left the steering wheel as he spoke. "My point is these phenomena exist in most people—even if just barely. We've proven that they are real. More importantly, we have a way to bring them out. Magnify them."
She lowered the visor to protect her eyes from the setting sun. "And what are you going to say when people ask how we discovered this? We can't tell them we experimented on children!"
