Marcy's POV

Marceline was lonely and sad and missing Bonnie.

She wasn't sure what had happened between them a week ago, but she knew she liked it. Or, she liked the part before Finn came and ruined everything. But she wasn't sure if Bonnie had, and now the princess was ignoring her. Marceline hadn't heard from her all week.

She sighed and picked up her bass. She needed to get this emotion out somehow. She floated out the window and up onto the roof.

Bonnibel's POV

Bonnie stood in front of Marceline's front door, trying to get up the courage to knock.

It's not that big of a deal, she reminded herself. Just a friend checking on a friend.

She nodded to herself. Of course. Okay. Okay.

She finally reached her hand up to knock, but then, above her, she heard a soft voice over the familiar sound of a bass.

"Marceline?" she whispered.

Bonnie moved around the house and to the ladder she knew was there. Marceline had put it there a long time ago so Bonnie could get onto the roof in a dignified way. She climbed the ladder quietly, trying not to startle the vampire.

And there, sitting with her back to the princess, was Marceline Abadeer with her bass.

When Marceline started singing, Bonnie had to concentrate hard on not falling off the ladder. She had heard this before.

Slow dance with you
I just wanna slow dance with you
I know all the other boys are tough and smooth
And I got the blues, I wanna
Slow dance with you.

I wanna slow dance with you
I just wanna slow dance with you
Why don't you take the chance
I've got the moves
I'd like to prove
I wanna slow dance with you.

Marceline's quiet soprano filled Bonnibel's lungs until it was all she could do to take another shuddering breath to keep her heart beating.

Marceline's POV

Marceline gave up on the song and set her bass down. She put her chin in her hands and looked out at the morning sky.

She sighed. "Bonnie. Bonnibel," she whispered, trying out the name on her lips.

She heard a sharp intake of breath behind her and whirled around.

"Bonnie! What the lump are you doing here?" Marceline was incredibly embarrassed. Had the princess heard her sing? Or say her name? Based on the expression on that pretty pink face, the answer was yes. To both.

"Marcy! I-- I swear I wasn't  trying to-- to eavesdrop! I came over to check on you because I haven't heard from you all week, and I... well, I just heard you singing, and I... I didn't want to interrupt."

Bonnie seemed to think that the vampire was angry. Marceline sighed and set her straight. "Bonnie. I'm not mad. I just... well, I'm embarrassed. For-- obvious reasons." She blushed. "Look, do you want to come inside?"

Bonnie nodded, and she climbed back down the ladder. Marceline floated to the door and entered, holding it open for her. She noticed the princess's scent as she passed... something slightly floral, a little sweet. Marceline tried not to be too obvious about her hyperventilation. She didn't know how she survived a room full of this on a regular basis.

Bonnie looked at her, seeming concerned. the vampire realized that she'd been holding the door for far too long. She shook her head, embarrassed yet again, and went to sit on the couch. When Bonnibel looked hesitant, Marcy patted the spot next to her.
