*Ruby's POV*

Shit.

I cursed myself for accidentally painting outside of my sketched line.

Looking up from my spot on the grass, I glared at the nuisance that stepped into my line of vision while I was on my last strokes.

"Nick. How many times do I have to tell you to text me if you need something?! I have 1 hour a day to relax. Please stop interrupting it." I scolded, running a frustrated hand through my raven locks.

I had been putting the finishing touches on my painting of the biggest lake on our lands. Everyday for 1 hour, I painted and relaxed. It's the only time I give myself to not worry about my pack. So, you can imagine how pissed off I get when people interrupt it.

"I apologize for the disturbance, alpha. There is movement in the forest nearby. The scent is not that of a usual rouge, but it's not from our pack either." Nick informs me.

It's been years since a rouge has stepped foot in the forest.

This should be interesting...

"Whoever it is, bring them to me. I cant believe anyone has the courage to walk through our forest without even attempting to mask their scent after the Lunar War." I ordered before cloaking my painting in a cloth and heading towards my office.

Walking past the kitchen and through the hall, I reached my office to find the door slightly ajar.

Oh, Moon Goddess. Not this again....

"Lydia. Enough of this. I've been clear about my feelings towards you. There are none." I stated firmly as I walked in.

To no surprise of my own, there she was. Sitting on my desk with a pout on her face.

"Ruby please! You and I make sense! I would be a great Luna. Just give me a chance..." she asked, crocodile tears brimming her eyes.

"You will refer to me as Alpha or Alpha Ruby, understood?" I corrected, my tone cold as ice. She was getting on my nerves and I made sure my anger was evident.

She jumps in surprise, getting off of my desk, yelling and wiping her eyes viciously. I roll my eyes and rest a hand on my hip, tapping my foot impatiently.

Her face contorted into pure anger as I gestured at the door. She stomped out, tears spilling down her cheeks.

With a sigh, I wiped my desk a bit with my hand and sat in my chair, studying the coordinates marked on the map. Nick had marked exactly where he sensed the rouge.

Hmm... How did she manage to go undetected so far into our territory?

Just as I thought that, a knock came at the door.

"Come in."

Nick walked in, a determined look on his face. "Alpha Ruby. I don't know who this girl is, but she's not a rouge. I think she's a human. Her scent is strong, but she was completely unaware of where she was and she didn't react to our pack name." he explained.

I gave him a stern loo, analyzing his sympathetic expression. "Nick, before you defend this girl, you need to be completely sure that you believe her story."

Nick knows that by pack law, anyone caught in our territory uninvited is put on trial. Judged by myself. It may be a strict law, but it's necessary when you're the strongest and most hated pack in the country.

I trust Nick. He doesn't trust people easily. If he believes she's telling the truth, I'll back him up.

He gave me a look and a nod that sealed the deal, "Yes, Alpha. I believe her. She's sitting in the waiting area right now." He informs me.
