banging her hand on the nightstand, aeri grabbed her phone, silencing the nerve-wracking alarm that had gone off for the fourth time. she groaned, tossing the phone to the other side of the bed, the thought creeping in: is this really worth it? is dragging herself to class every day, fighting to stay awake, really going to get her anywhere?
the bed felt like a warm cocoon, one she wasn't quite ready to leave.
"aeri, what was that noise?" jake's voice broke through her thoughts as he leaned in the doorway, rubbing his eyes, still drowsy.
"nothing" she mumbled, her mind still half-asleep, the temptation to stay wrapped in her blankets almost unbearable.
but it was friday, and everyone loves fridays, right? the final stretch before the weekend, a brief window of freedom from the daily grind. little did she know, her day was about to take a turn for the worse, but let's not spoil the surprise just yet.
with an exaggerated sigh, aeri finally forced herself out of bed, dragging her feet toward the bathroom before she could get sucked into the black hole of social media. she knew the drill— one scroll through her phone and she'd be late, and if there was one thing she couldn't stand, it was being late.
actually, there were a lot of things aeri hated— bugs, liars, being told what to do, warm pickles, the beach, sunghoon, being wrong, and the list could go on forever.
yeah, i know what you're thinking, and don't worry, there's a story behind it. or maybe aeri will tell you herself. patience.
"good morning~" soyeon's voice rang out like nails on a chalkboard, dragging the "i" in a way that made aeri's blood pressure spike. how did she have so much energy this early in the morning? every day, it got harder for aeri to convince herself not to commit murder. i mean, she did expect some kind or reward for making int through the seven days of the week without aggressively stabbing someone with a fork.
aeri stared at her friend, wondering if she was sleeping the wrong way, because no one should be that cheerful at seven in the morning.
