Chapter 06

Scars

One week on Earth and Mayari's plan to avoid Apolaki have already miserably failed.

Her first night was by far the most peaceful one. Matapos niyang layasan ang diyos ay napunta siya sa isang kagubatan, literally in the middle of nowhere which was perfect for her. Ginusto niya munang mapag-isa. Nakapagpahinga rin siya, falling into deep slumber. Maybe it was because of her exhaustion.

But what she woke up to the next morning definitely set her mood for the days to come.

Pagkadilat na pagkadilat ng kanyang mata, nakita niya ang isang lalaki na nakaupo 'di kalayuan sa kanya which startled her. When her vision became clear, nakita niyang si Apolaki pala iyon and he had that signature grin plastered on his face.

"Anong ginagawa mo rito?"

"What? I can't come here?

"I just needed some kind of motivation from my rival who, by the way, looks really contemptible.

Pak!

Mayari had already punched the god twice in less than twenty four hours. Apolaki groaned in painn as he rubbed his cheek.

She left him again.

And he found her, again.

It was as if they were playing hide and seek, somehow the god always managed to find her and basically ruin her day. As far as she was concerned, malaki pa rin ang galit ni Mayari sa kanya. She wasn't going to entertain him anymore. The god will surely get tired of chasing her around, right?

Wrong.

He found her wherever she went, thanks to the entire 'being-able-to-track-another-deity-ability' that they had.

Mayari asked as calm as she could be.

"I do what I want."

He was a hopeless case.

Mayari ended up at a tribe village. Nakita ito ng isang babaeng taga-lupa and she quickly offered the goddess to visit the village and they would throw a banquet for her. Mayari didn't know how to feel about that at first. Wala na siyang nagawa, the woman managed to convince her. Isa pa, there was a good chance that the god wouldn't dare follow her if she was surrounded by mortals.

A great plan indeed.

The morning after they were sent on Earth, they all went down to see her and Apolaki. But, Hanan was pissed as they were sure she only focused on the other deities' comments about her sister.
