19. I know what a phone is, thank you very much

While we're on the topic of Samsung Galaxy phones and excess descriptions, another thing that completely defines "face-palm" is paragraphs like this:

"I was lying on my memory-foam mattress with my blanket made of goose down, fabric, and a metal zipper covering me, when suddenly my phone rang. The vibrations travelled through my mahogany, wooden desk with four legs and a drawer. I picked up the cold, metal device and clicked the small, rectangular button to turn on the LED screen. The digital words displayed themselves across the glass screen of the electronic device."

We know what a blanket is. We know what a desk is, too. We know that this cold, metal, electronic device with an LED screen made of glass and a rectangular button is called a phone. But please, do continue explaining. I wonder what happens when you pick up the call. Do soundwaves travel into your ears, perhaps? Do these soundwaves make, I don't know, sounds?
