Every news showed the same rumor that had spread all over Paris in the speed of light.
"Is Adrien Agreste dating Marinette Dupain-Cheng?"
No girl wanted to believe such a news. This included Kagami Tsurugi who was now bitterly staring at the fountain park where Marinette Dupain-Cheng's 10th grade class were hosting a party.
Just to celebrate their one month anniversary.
And Kagami was not having it.
Kagami had a sour feeling bubbling in her stomach. She strongly believed that it should have been her. Her potential of being that perfect girlfriend Adrien could ever desire and give Adrien the love he deserves.
After all, the handsome young model did deserve a better life with tons of love. But Kagami's romantic supports would never reach Adrien. That place had now belonged to Marinette Dupain-Cheng, the baker's daughter.
What killed Kagami's feeling the most was that, Marinette was a lovable girl, loved by everyone. Kagami could never bring herself to hate Marinette. Besides, she was the only other friend Kagami had, other than Adrien.
From the bench, Kagami could see her friends congratulating her for her love life that was finally going well.
Kagami started to feel the anger bubbling in her stomach as Marinette's arms wrapped around Adrien's shoulder. Adrien's loving green forest eyes looking down into her beautiful cerulean blue eyes.
Kagami doubted if what they had together until then ever meant anything to Adrien. Had Adrien noticed her love and adoration for him? Too upset to stay and think for even a second longer, Kagami stood up from the bench and proceeded to walk towards the adorable couple.
Seeing Kagami approach towards them, Marinette broke her contact with Adrien to greet her.
"Hey Kagami-" Marinette started with a beaming smile which faded the moment they made eye contact. Kagami's piercing brown eyes glaring at her sky blue eyes. Kagami slightly growled under her breath and shifted her angry gaze towards Adrien.
"I'm happy for you, Adrien. Your love life seems to be going great." Her voice laced with heavy sarcasm as she glared daggers at Adrien.
Adrien slightly flinched. Marinette looked at the two worryingly.
"I-I'm very sorry Kagami. I didn't mean to make you feel bad." Marinette said but Kagami lightly ignored her. Marinette could not come up with how she was going to apologise. After all, the two were love rivals. So saying "make her feel bad" was an obvious understatement.
Kagami simply wanted to say congratulations to the two lovers and leave as soon as possible. But not everything works the way we want it go now, do they?
A short blonde girl blocked her way as she said, "You can always find another person! People say there's always plenty of fish in the sea!"
Kagami was irritated by this which was the trigger to why her words slipped before she could stop herself. "Do I look like I care? Just leave me alone, alright? I'm in no mood to talk. You are probably assuming that I'm still desperate right now, aren't you?" Rose was taken aback by her choice of words.
Another short girl with braided coloured hair stopped her. "Rose is right. You can all still be friends! Please calm down!"
Kagami clicked her tongue. "As if you'd know anything about how I feel considering how you and your boyfriend, Ivan were 'love at first sight'. I don't need your pep talks, thanks but no thanks." Kagami muttered under her breathe. "Now get out of the way." She looked the most threatening out of all of her cold but collected sides she had ever shown to anyone.
