"What happened? It was supposed to be The Endgame."

Astrid Ellison, or Astrid the Genius, was headed towards the plaza with Sam Temple, her boyfriend, by her side. Sam's face was red with rage. It was clear to him that nobody decided to listen to his advice, and instead hoped for a future that may never happen.

He had told everybody not to think of it as 'The Endgame', but that is exactly what they did. They hoped, and they hoped, but the barrier is still up and their freaky powers remain, along with teleporting cats and talking coyotes. Sam stormed with rage while Astrid tried to keep up.

"What's the matter, Sam? You know you can always come to me if you have a problem." She said with a comforting smile.

"People don't listen! You try to help them but all they want to do is be independent and take their own advice." He calmed down a little but was still shouting. He stopped storming through the streets to turn around to Astrid. His face looked puzzled.

"Where's Edilio? Wasn't he just with us?" He asked.

"Yeah, I think he walked away the moment the massive light from Gaia and Petey stopped." She replied.

"Weird. You'd think he would have said something before he went." Sam frowned in slight confusion.

Edilio Escobar kept his hands in his pockets and his head bowed low. La migra couldn't come after him if he was in a huge indestructible orb now could they? He was safe for a while. Days, weeks, months. Of course, being a part of the FAYZ had its downsides. Many, many downsides, and nobody could feel true safety in the FAYZ. So far they've been hit with mutations, disappearances, starvation and thirst, giant bugs, complete darkness and even a demonic alien child.

Yep, life in the FAYZ is just peachy.

Who knows what might come next. In fact, Edilio was terrified of not knowing what might come. He tried to reassure himself with the fact that LP and Gaia are both gone, so nothing more could happen, but the radiation is still there. People might start growing gills or wings.

The things Edilio would do for a pair of wings. He could fly to the top of the FAYZ and never come down. He could swoop around and be a messenger of some sort. He could escape all the bad things on the FAYZ floor.

But he didn't have wings, and sitting on the floor with her knees by her chest was Diana. The poor girl was sobbing over the ashes of her lost love. Edilio knew that he had to cheer her up. He knelt down beside her respectively and placed his left hand on her back.

"Why? Why him?" She said through the tears. "Why couldn't Little Pete have taken me instead?"

"Lots of people were calling out to him. I guess there was something special about Caine. Maybe it was because he was a four bar. One of the strongest people in the FAYZ." He said, patting her on the back. "Try not to think about it too much, okay?"

"Okay. I'll try." She wiped the tears from her cheeks. "Can we give him a funeral?" She asked, sniffing a bit between words.

"I guess we could...if that's what you really want." Replied Edilio.

"It's what I want." She gave him a great hug. "Thanks Edilio." She forced a smile and walked off towards Ralph's Grocery.

She will never get back to being herself. She will never be the Lana she used to be if the barrier doesn't come down now. She will always be The Healer, and nothing less.

By now, Lana was desperate to get out. She was almost crying with frustration. She missed all the people who were forced outside of the FAYZ, especially Grandpa Luke.

Lana had headed home and took a deep look at herself in the bathroom mirror. This was her. She had a machete, a gun and a craving for nicotine. It was sad to think that the sweet innocent part of her had disappeared thanks to the FAYZ.

She could barely take it anymore. Everything was the damn FAYZ. That's all anybody would talk about nowadays. No more 'I hate Mondays' or 'Ugh, school'. It was more like 'I hate flying snakes' or 'Ugh, FAYZ'. It was driving Lana crazy. She had to get out. She had to talk to people on the outside, but most of all, She had to see her Grandpa Luke. She needed to make sure he was okay and she needed his great advice and wisdom. But she was on her own, and that's how it was going to stay.

Drake Merwin ran to his grandad, Drake Merwin, only to find that the wall was still there. He had been fooled by the barrier twice, and if there was one thing that Drake hated more than anything, it was being made to look like a fool. He slashed his whip arm at the barrier a few times before he noticed the look on his grandfather's face. He looked terrified, and he should. Drake was a freak, a monster with a man's body and a large blood red tentacle for a hand. His grandad fled in fear, and Drake realised that he had no purpose anymore. Caine and the gaiaphage were both dead now, and he was left on his own. He was no longer on anybody's side but his own. He was his own man now, and he followed his own orders. He can't join anybody else because they all hate him, that much was clear to him.

Unless...

He had the power to resurrect the dead. The FAYZ would be revolutionised with his power. He could bring back The Breeze, Dahra, Bette and so many more people. Finally he might get a bit of attention for once. His name was Daniel, but most people just called him Dan. Dan was a scrawny 14-year-old British kid who had moved to California over a year ago. As the new kid, people didn't really talk to him, but the occasional girl would come round to hear his British accent. He didn't want to get caught up in what people were calling the 'FAYZ', he just wanted to be alone with a book or Netflix or something. He was popular in Britain, and he didn't think America would be any different, but to him it seemed like an unknown culture. He never attended any of the meetings people had arranged, and he stayed in his house most of the time, but now he can bring back the people he heard others mourning over. He could make people happy, and they would love him, but first, he just had to find somebody who was missing somebody. And standing right in front of him was the perfect opportunity.

"Hi, what's the matter?" He asked in a stupidly high-pitched voice.

"Oh, nothing. I was just headed home. I was thinking of getting a few things from Ralph's." Diana replied. "Sorry, do I know you from somewhere?" She said, hoping not to sound rude.

"Oh, I'm Dan. We were in the same biology class for a few months, but that doesn't matter. I just want to know why you were crying just now, if that's okay with you." He said.

"You don't know?" She said in surprise. "It was the huge lasers of light that filled up the FAYZ..."

"Right, of course!" He said convincingly. "Did they pass away?"

"He was shot with lasers until he was reduced into a pile of ashes." Diana tucked her hair behind her ear.

"If you have the ashes I think I could do something for you." He said.

"Sorry, Edilio has them. I asked him if he could start up a funeral for Caine." So his name was Caine. The name is always a good thing to know when you're resurrecting people. Now he just had to find this 'Edilio' kid and get the ashes off of him.

"I never got your name." He said, tucking his hands into his pockets.

"Oh, It's Diana. Diana Ladris." She replied.

"Okay, stay safe Diana."

"You too, Dom."

"It's Dan." If only he had a dollar for every time somebody forgot his name, but that didn't matter. The task was to find Edilio.

This chapter was just to show a few of the characters' thoughts and feelings. The new character was a bit risky to put in, but I hope you'll grow an opinion on whether you like him or hate him. Feel free to give me advice on stuff.
