[Danielle P.O.V]
I gaze in awe at my surroundings, busy nurses and doctors rushing about in the lobby. I don't know, there's just something about hospitals that intrigues me. Maybe its because it is a place where people can get medical help. Or maybe its because of the precise way they do their jobs. Either way, its something I'd like to be a part of.
I walk up to the front desk, a blonde woman in her late thirties quickly noticing me. "Good morning, how may I help you?" She greets. "I am here for the internship. For the college program." I say. She grins, handing me a clipboard. "You're early! Just take your sticker and follow the directions on this slip. Good luck!" She instructs.
I nod, taking the clipboard and the slip. I place my sticker on, looking down at the little slip of paper.
: Level 13, Door 29
Huh, sounds simple enough. I walk over to the elevator shafts, me being especially lucky today, one dings open, showing a vacant space. I step in, hitting my floor, my anticipation getting the best of my. I grin to myself, eager to finally get a head start at this career. The door closes, and I gradually start to ascend.
(End of the Day)
Today was overall, pretty nice. First off, we learned the ropes and all. Such as working up to our roles- intern, assistant, nurse, doctor, surgeon, and so on. I have a while to work up to in order to be a surgeon, but I'm ready for the sacrifice.
I am currently walking home, thinking it'd be good for me. I do need to loose a few pounds... I don't know why Hayley thinks so highly of me. I'm not at all perfect.
My thoughts are interrupted by running into a firm wall. No, a firm chest. Large hands land on my waist, steadying me. "Sorry!" I apologize, looking up at the stranger, a man with sweet brown eyes.
"Its alright. What are you doing out here? Its getting pretty late." He inquires. I awkwardly swallow. "Walking. I- didn't realize how late it was." I say. He nods, eyes roaming around me. His hands don't leave my waist, and blush slightly rises.
I casually remove his hands, taking a large step from him, trying to pull of a normal smile. Though, I probably look anything but in this situation.
"Um well, I'll be going now-" I say, bouncing my eyebrows. I'd have to admit that he is pretty attractive. "Liam." He says, smiling kindly. "Danielle. Well, uh, goodnight!" I say. "Goodnight." He nods. I turn away from him, nearly stumbling on my own two feet. Well that was awkward. Pretty embarrassing, too. I look behind me, seeing him walking in the other direction.
Suddenly his head turns, and our eyes meet. I quickly look away, feeling his gaze still upon me. The image of his chocolate eyes and bearded face still lingering in my head. I maneuver through the crowd, trying to focus on getting home.
I don't know. Whenever I confront a boy, I get all giddy and uncomfortable. I didn't always used to be that way- Keegan left me on bad terms. I could never hate him though, he did teach me that all guys are d.icks.
I see the familiar tower of my building, picking up my pace. I steadily strut through the glass door, making a beeline for the elevators.
As soon as I'm on my floor, images of a good night of relaxation fill my mind. I look forward to see my neighbor, Niall, just about to head out, I assume. He meets my gaze, smiling cheerily. "Hello Danielle. Are ya having a nice evening there?" He asks I'm his thick Irish accent.
I nod, gesturing to him. "You heading out?" I inquire casually. He shifts the weight on his feet, leaning a bit closer to me. "Ya. Hey, you'll never guess what I saw on the news!" He starts. That's the thing with Niall. He gets, excited, easily- and I mean all good things.
He's so jolly, I just can't help not to be friends with him. I don't see how you could not like a guy like Niall.
"There was a massacre down in Pennsylvania. Dozens killed. Its crazy, 'cause the same 'ting has been happenin' all over the country. Utah, Montana, Ohio, New Mexico, and even California." He explains. I slightly frown.
"That's terrible. What's causing this? It sounds like its spreading, badly." I prod. He shrugs. "You never know. But the police are investigating- oh, it looks like I'm running late. Bye!" He cuts himself off, giving me a side hug.
I smile, a bit unnerved by his update. "Goodnight!" I call after. He waves, before dashing down the hall. I shake my head, pulling out my keys. I unlock my door, kicking my shoes off as I step in.
I smile at the small confounds of ,my apartment, falling sloppily onto the couch. I'm jot in the mood for cooking tonight- and definitely not anything else for that matter. I have a day off, and I'm going to enjoy it.
