First day of school

Today is the first day of my sophomore year. There is nothing new to expect for me. The year would be the same as last year, even though last year was supposed to be amazing because it was my freshman year. Well it's not that bad. At least I don't have a bully awaiting my arrival and waiting to hunt me down. On the other hand, I am not a popular person in the school. You see, when the school was created it was to maintain one goal: No cliques or special groups whatsoever. Even though students are reminded of that everyday the cliques and special groups still go on year-round. Well, I'm not in a group so I could care less.

Great. All that thinking made me waste five minutes of getting ready. Better hurry up.

I was standing up staring at my open closet. I wanted to have a new look for the newschool year. Just something stylish but comfortable, but nothing too revealing. So I decided to wear skinny jeans, a blue v-neck and a grey cardigan on top of it. Since it was getting a little cold, I decided to put my grey boots on. I went down to have breakfast. I drank my favorite coffee. Starbucks vanilla frappucino with fruit and a granola bar. That would keep me stable until lunch. I grabbed my brown bag and got on my bicycle. The school is ten minutes away, so I always ride my bike to school. I started riding. This year is a new year.

I arrived at the school still having time until the morning bell to ring. So I parked my bike and locked it in the bike rack. I am one of the few people that rides their bicycle to school. I don't care. So I sit down and relax on a picnic table and let my mind unwind for a couple of minutes. I am disturbed by the commotion and noise of students. I open my eyes and it looks like they are surrounding a car. Out of that car comes this guy that I have never seen before. He is probably a new student.. I can't really see him, but  I don't let myself worry about it. I hear the bell ring and I start going in. While I am walking I notice the people that surrounded the car are still there and haven't moved. I look away and I continue on with my day.

I grab my schedule and my lock combination from my bag and notice that my first period is English. I got happy because I always loved English so that was a good way to start the first day. I walk to the English room which is on the second floor of the building. Even though all my classes are on the second and third floor I prefer my locker to be on the first floor so its the first thing in the morning I can access. As I walk calmly I notice there is a big group of girls walking. I assume they were following someone. I didn't catch who it was. I just kept walking and continued to not worry about anything. I haven't seen any of my friends this morning. Maybe they will be with me in English. I walk into the English room, I'm one of the first ones there. The first that catches my eye is the bookcases in the back of the room. I walk immediately to the bookcases, not looking at anybody else in the room. I look at the books and novels and they were classics that I enjoyed: Fahrenheit 451, The Old Man and the Sea, Great Expectations, Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, as well as many others. I was skimming the titles of the rest of the books when someone stands next to me.

"I see you have noticed my bookcases." A woman says to me.

"Yes, I love many of the classics that you have. I replied.

"I am Mrs.Sanders and I am your English teacher." She said with confidence.

"It's very nice to meet you, I am Mia Cruz." I said back.

"Well I put these bookcases up for anyone to enjoy the classics. Even though the library already has many of these titles I like to have my own. The principal almost didn't allow me to do this. I don't like limitations very much." Mrs.Sanders explained with joy.

"I like you already. Well since I read most of them I will definitely check titles I haven't ready yet." I said.

"Well I am glad to hear that and I think its going to be a good year. Well the bell is about to ring so you might want to take a seat. Anywhere of your choice." She said and walked away to her desk.

I took a seat in the middle, where I would always sit in every class; unless we have assigned seats. As I sit down and get ready for the first day of class I think that this will be a good year just by the small conversation I just had with the teacher. She and I were quite enthusiastic about the books in the back of her room. I predict that she is going to be a favorite teacher of mine. Students start coming in and taking seats. Most of the room is filled. There were empty desks here and there but nothing to worry about. The bell rings and Mrs.Sanders was writing her name on the Smart board.

"Hello, my name is Mrs.Sanders and-"

Mrs.Sanders was interrupted by a knock on th door. She went over to the door and opened it. This guy with jeans and a white shirt and a grey jacket comes in the room. He must be the new guy that was surrounded in the parking lot. The girls in the class start getting nervous. The attention of the whole class was on him as he walks in.
