Before she landed in Storybrooke and met Everly and Sam Jones, Katherine Scott was simply known as Katherine, servant to the one and only Rumplestiltskin. The only true family that she knew throughout most of her life was Belle, who had been by her side for as long as she could remember. All she knew about her birth relatives was that they gave her up for their kingdom's protection during the Ogre Wars. To them, she was just a pawn in their game
So when she saw the chance to finally have a chance to be free, Katherine embraced it and ran as far away from the Dark One's castle and his magic as she could.
