Nick's POV:

"So who enjoyed last night's chapter of The Great Gatsby?" Mr. Proctor asked. No one raised their hand 'cause that would overkill, the opposite of academic suicide. As far as reading a book though, Gatsby wasn't so bad. I read last night's chapter and I actually enjoyed it. Chapter 8 was definitely the most action packed. people died, the American dream was crushed and so was his lavish lifestyle. Daisy though, Daisy, daisy, daisy. Definately would not have gone after her. She would not be worth of my money. Though I guess I have the benefit of forshadowing. "What do you think of the book so far? Nick?"

"Guess you gotta be careful what you wish for, sir."

"Don't steal someone else's girl," a red head girl said.

"Life's not funwithout some adventure though," I countered.

"Be careful then or your adventure may lead to your demise."

"Or I might get everything I'm looking for."

"We also have the advantage of foresight, sir."

"It's hindsight," she said smirking and I rolled my eyes.

"Close enough."

"Actually it's the complete opposite."

"Very good, Eleanor. I like where your discussion is going? What can we learn from these characters? I'll take foresight or hindsight."

"Don't be rich," Levi said and some of the student snickered.

"Be careful of the friend's you keep around," I countered.

"Find decent men. Even Nick isn't that great of a guy." Some of the students gasped. Eleanor turned pink and the look on her face what priceless. "I mean Nick Carraway."

"Nice save," I muttered.

"I think the point was more about what money does to people." You were doing so well, E. Should've kept your mouth shut.

"Ellie, I think you just made that worse," Levi whispered.

"Shut up," she muttered and the girl in front of her snickered. That was odd. A girl who wasn't scared of me and wasn't flirting with me. Impossible. Or maybe she was scared and I just didn't realize it.

"You need to teach that girl a lesson," Jake said. "She crush you in there dude."

"I kinda let her though dude."

"Still. You can't let people do that to you. You make a pattern of that, and you'll regret it."

"I don't think she meant anything by it."

"Still. You can't let her win."

"Hey, let it go. I'll rule my kingdom the way I want to a'right."

"Okay dude. But watch her. She might steal your throne."

"I wish her luck. I am still the king of fun. Speaking of which, guess who's having a party cause his parents are out of town for the weekend?" I asked Jake in the hallway and his jaw dropped.

"No way, man. This is gonna be lit."

"Spread the word and bring a girl."

"Who are you bringing?"

"I don't know yet. I haven't decided."

"You should take the red head you were flirting with in class."

"Ellie," I scoffed. "Nah. She'd never go for me. She's too..."

"I dare you to sleep with her. I'll even bet $100 buck over it." Get a girl to sleep with me? Piece of cake. E? I guess she was worth $100 buck for the challenge.

"You know what? You're on. I get her to sleep with me and you owe me $100 bucks "

"You fail you owe me $100 bucks."

"Deal." We shook hands and Jake walked away telling every football player he passed about the party. Levi and Ellie are friends and Levi would probably do anything I asked. So Levi was my way to Ellie.
