The mistake

I saw the neon lights glowing in the night sky and walked into the back door of the club. I got pass the security, showing them my work id.

I work at the most popular club in New York City, owned by Christian Gomez. I don't like working at a club much less for him.

My mom is very religious. She, of course, wants me to move back home. She wouldn't like knowing that I work at a club. I only work as a server, but she doesn't even want me working on the same block as a club.

I walk into the locker rooms, getting changed into my work uniform. It's a red short skirt and and black regular t-shirt.

I pushed open the doors, revealing the big five star club. Snobby rich people. I look towards the bar, spotting Jackie.

Jackie is the bartender and also my first friend at the bar. "Wassup bitch," I say, approaching her. "Ew, you're here," she said, laughing. "Yep," I walk to her and gather her in a big bear hug.

My timing couldn't get any worse. Just as I did, the big bad boss, Christian Gomez walked by. "I pay you guys to work, not hug. Now get back to what I pay you for."

"Yeah well, he barely pays me shit, so I'll do as I please," I retorted, obviously only meaning for Jackie to hear. Jackie froze. Uh oh.

I stood on my tiptoes as high as I could to get to Jackie's ear and whispered, "He's right behind me, isn't he?"

"Yep," she said, popping the p. I go down to my regular height. I'm only 5'3. People need to shrink. I turn around cautiously, not looking him in the eye.

I look up at him for 1 quick second and see shock and anger on his face. It's never a good face. "What did you say?"

"Nothing," I said, almost too quick. I was looking down at my feet, but I could tell he made one swift movement to be standing in front of me. Like RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.

His cologne flooded my nose and I'd be lying if I said it didn't smell like absolute heaven. He lifted my head to where his blue eyes were staring at mine and asked, "I asked, what'd you say to me? And don't lie either."

I felt like running into an ally, curling into a ball, and dying there. But this is real life. "And I said that I said nothing." He looked like he did a double-take. I guess that wasn't expected.

He grabbed my by my wrist and pulled me into his office, sitting me down on the chair in front of his desk. My heart rate quickened. Why do I always get myself in stupid situations? Am I really just that dumb of a bitch?

He closed his door and walked around his desk. "What's your name?" he asked. "Stephanie," I said, looking down again.

"What's your position at the club?" he asked. Is he trying to fire me? Not happening. "Are you trying to fire me?" I ask.

"We'll go for that," he says. "I'm a server," I say. "Could've fooled me. With a body like that, you could be working the pole," he said, grinning.

This son of a bitch did not just say that. I know he didn't. I got up out of the chair and leaned down to his desk, putting my hands on the top of it to stable myself.

"Listen. I'm not one of those girls who takes that as a compliment. Now can I get back to work, or are you going to fire me, cause if so, do it."

He stood up quickly walking around his desk. As he took a step for me, I took a step back. Until I reached the stupid wall. What a cliche.

He looked down at me and said, "It was a compliment. Your body is amazing. I would pay to see it-" I interrupted him before he could finish with a slap on the face.

"Don't ever talk about me or my body," I said, pushing him out of the way. Once I left his office, I took a deep breath. Lord knows I needed it.

I walk up to Jackie with a small smile on my face. Well that's it for this job, I thought. "I don't know if I'm fired or not, but I'm gonna head home. Spend some time to myself and get a grip," I said, walking to her giving her a hug.

I walked back into the locker room, getting changed back into my regular clothes. I heard the door open and close, but I payed no mind.

I felt a strong, hard body behind mine. "Did I say that you could have the night off?" he asked. "Yeah well the body you were apparently complementing earlier, is tired," I said, turning around.

How much more stupid could I get? I hit hard chest with my face. I took a short deep breath and tried to walk past him, but he wouldn't let me.

"Listen asshole, I don't give two shits that this is your club, but I can leave it anytime I want," I say, looking up at him. "Listen bitch, your shift isn't over yet," he said.

OH HELL NO. I know this mother fucker did NOT. I paused, trying to register in what he just said. "What'd you call me?" I asked. "A bitch," he said, like he'd done it multiple times.

Time to hurt his baby makers. I lifted my leg up with full force, hitting him right in his nuts. "Listen bitch," I said while watching him fall to the ground in pain, "you need to get your manners in check. Number 1 ain't NO ONE here is your bitch or anyone's bitch for that matter. Number 2 don't approach me unless you have business to talk and last but not least number fucking 3 don't you ever think I won't do that again," I say, walking away.

I stop at the door. "Oh yeah, and don't ever compliment any girl again, it doesn't work," I say, leaving. Once I got outside, I took a very deep breath of fresh air.

Once I got home, I immediately fell back in my bed.
