'Blair,' My brother Adrian says as he opens the curtains in my room letting in the morning sun, 'Blair you have to get up or you're going to be late.'

I mutter a barely eligible response back as I roll over and bury my head into my pillow.

'Fine, be late for your first day at Hogwarts, I don't care!' he says as he walks out of my room, slamming the door.

I sit bolt upright finally remembering what day it is. The day I've been waiting for all eleven years of my life, I'm finally going to Hogwarts!

I have a shower and come out to get dressed as I notice the deep maroon dress, darker toned tights and tasteful black heels laying on my bed. This outfit is perfect for a good first impression which is just what i need today! My mother, Ophelia Pucey who is a wizarding world renowned fashion designer, must've picked it out. Being a former Rosier she is well known for her incredible sense of style and class as well as being a member of one of the 28 sacred pureblood families. I quickly get dressed and style my hair using a spell mother taught me and rush downstairs. I don't have to worry about packing my stuff as we have servants for that sort of nonsense and I join my family at the table to eat breakfast. As far as prestigious pureblood families go there is not usually a lot of affection shown but i got pretty lucky and both my parents are very loving all things considered.

'Theres our princess!' my father announces as my brother rolls his eyes.

My mother smiles and says 'I just knew you'd look wonderful in that dress my dear.'

'You must be so excited about today!' states my father, 'after breakfast we're going to get your wand.'

The house elves already got everything else I needed, a wand and a pet were the only things left but every owl, cat and even toad I looked at sadly none of them seemed to be right for me.

'Wonderful I can't wait!' I exclaimed.

'We just know you're going to do amazing things as our Slytherin princess my love.' My parents tell me for about a hundredth time and once again I get that sick feeling in my stomach every time they mention the sorting ceremony or Slytherin.

The pressure is just too much and my mind can't help but think what if i don't get in, what if I'm a loser and get Hufflepuff or worse I'm just a plain idiot and get Gryffindor. I know they mean well but I'm just so nervous I'll let them and our family legacy down.

After breakfast we take the Floo Network to Diagon Alley where me and my parents go straight to Ollivanders. Adrian decided to not go with us and is instead meeting his best friend Cedric Diggory, a very surprising choice I know but somehow they just got along and have since before they were sorted into polar opposite houses. My parents usually wouldn't want us associating ourselves with a Hufflepuff but they don't mind Cedric and his family as they are loyal people and most importantly they are purebloods. I've had a giant crush on Cedric for as long as I can remember but I'm certain he doesn't see me as anything more than a little sister, being 2 years younger and all.

We make our way to Ollivanders, ignoring the stares and whispers we get along the way. As direct descendants of Merlin and pureblood Slytherins we are just about as powerful and rich as it gets so I'm used to being treated as royalty, it's not like we don't deserve it.

Once we arrive at Ollivanders he tries out a few wands none of them working until he pulls out one last one, 'Ah curious, perhaps this would work.' the old man tells me, ' A Beech wood with a phoenix feather core, 12 ½ inches and reasonably supple flexibility'. I take it and suddenly a strong golden wind blows my hair back filling me with warmth, I smile knowing the wand is now mine.

After choosing my wand we walk over to the ice cream parlor where I see Draco Malfoy. I grimace, I've never liked Draco, at all the family events we've been at together he has always been nothing but rude to me. I sit across from each other death staring as your parents make small talk with each other.

'So Pucey,' He says crudely 'What house do you reckon you'll get into?'

His attempt to make civil conversation surprises me and I go to respond when he interrupts, 'because I'll obviously get Slytherin but not you, you're too soft, I bet you'll get put in Hufflepuff and then maybe your parents will finally disown you for being such a disappointment.'

I let out a small gasp having let my guard down for a second then regain my composure.

'No Malfoy,' I say, 'I am a direct descendant of Merlin and a part of the most rich and powerful wizarding family in all of europe. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that I will be a Slytherin. You on the other hand, you may be mean and have decent values but to be a Slytherin you need more than just your cruel nature. You need ambition, determination and intelligence, all three of those things you quite clearly lack.'

I get up and leave walking over to Adrian and Cedric who have just walked in leaving Draco sitting there absolutely gobsmacked.

'Hey Blair!' Cedric says with a huge smile as he pulls me in for a hug.

'Hey!' I say back returning the same warmth he's shown me.

I see out of the corner of my eye Adrian holding something as I pull away from Cedric's embrace. My mouth drops open as I realise what he's got.

'You didn't! Oh my god you did!' I practically shout.

'I know, I know I'm the best brother ever you don't need to tell me.' he teases.

'We saw her and we instantly knew you would love her' Cedric says.

'You guys are the absolute best!' I shriek as I quickly grab the magnificent black feline from Adrian's hands. I kiss him on the cheek and shoot Cedric a happy smile before running over to show mum and dad my latest friend.

'Sorry to interrupt,' I say to Lucuis and my father, Caspian Pucey 'but i just had to show you what Adrian and Cedric bought me, isn't she just wonderful?'

The two men stop talking about whatever it was that was so interesting, no doubt it was official ministry talk as they are both quite high up in the Ministry Of Magic, my father though is obviously more powerful and in a more prestigious position. They look down at me and my new cat and my father smiles happy for me, 'Wow,' he says 'That's just wonderful my dear!' Lucuis on the other hand says nothing but somehow manages a slight smile. He's always been pleasant to me but he's not the kindest person in the world, maybe that's why Draco is so horrible. I run along to my mother who's chatting away to Narcissa and show her the cat. She tells me once again how amazing that is and to make sure I thank my brother and Cedric. I have a brief conversation with Narcissa, who's always been so kind and acts as though she's a second mother to me but then I turn to leave with my new cat whom I've decided to name Pandora as I feel someone grab my arm and tug me into another room. As I regained my balance I realised it was Draco who so roughly handled me.

'Look just because you think you're all that doesn't mean you actually are okay? And you don't have to act like such a princess all the time' he says quite aggressively, 'and you know just because your dad's got a slightly better job than mine you don't get to treat me like I'm rubbish I'm still better than you'll ever be. You got that?'

Not phased at all by anything he just said, I started laughing and corrected him, 'It's Sytherin Princess Malfoy, not just any princess.' I walk away without a care in the world knowing that all it takes to ruin Malfoy and his family for good is one little chat with my father. I hear Draco call from behind me 'Get back here Pucey, I'm not finished with you!' but I continue walking making sure I don't look back.
