"I'm not boring!"

Digimon Adventure 1
A young brunette woman clad in a black suit stood peering out the window of her 24th floor hotel room. The hotel was located in the heart of the city and therefore provided the type of lavishness and grandness that would satisfy any wealthy patron - businessman or tourist. The luxury was nothing the woman couldn't afford, although money didn't allow her permanence - this was the third hotel she'd stay at this month. She'd been on the move for two years now. The lack of a home didn't awake any sentimental bother in her however, it was nothing more than a small inconvenience. She followed the cars on the street below with her eyes as she tapped the ash from her cigarette onto the posh white carpeting at her feet. She didn't turn around upon hearing the door to the hotel room open and shut.
"So," she questioned uneventfully. The voice that responded from behind was scratchy and hoarse in tone. She watched the creature's reflection in the window as he spoke.
"They're still at it, they are! Ever since those two brats got a hold of them they've been ravaging through every damn thing the internet has to offer!"
"They're consuming a lot of data, I assume."
"More than a lot! They're bound to evolve any day now."
The woman put the cigarette to her lips again before turning around and heading over to her desk. She muttered quietly to herself as she sat down and opened her laptop.
"Should I snuff 'em out?" he asked, letting out an eager snarl at the mere thought of it.
"No need to bother, Gazimon." She glanced back at him. "I can open another gateway to the kindergarten any time I want. It's too much of a hassle getting those two back if they've already become active. Besides, I doubt a couple of snotty computer kids are gonna get in the way of my work." The Digimon, now by her side, put his paws up on the desk to watch the laptop screen. His grotesquely long claws scraped against the fine wood of the table top. "They're gonna become a pain in the ass soon enough, they are," he grumbled. She smiled faintly, pulling up a window displaying a grainy footage - it was the footage of a security camera located on the corner of a building downtown. After a few seconds, two boys came into frame as they walked down the street. With a simple click, the footage switched to that of a camera on the other side of the road, and the boys would soon appear again, stopping to wait in front of the crosswalk. She zoomed in until their faces became visible. Mickie Owen, she noted to herself as she observed the taller one of the two. The other one, Jeffery Woods, was somewhat shorter and wore bulky frames. She raised an eyebrow and wondered curiously if these two kids even knew that what they were in possession of were in fact Digimon. At this stage, they probably still didn't even know that they were conscious. They did however seem to understand a fraction of what the creatures were capable of - so far they had broken through various high-profile security systems that would have taken any other hacker months to infiltrate. With a few commands, kura.mon and moku.mon could demolish any data in their way. Although, the two boys appeared to have no idea that all this time they had been feeding the things.
"Annie, " Gazimon said, impatiently awaiting her to continue the conversation. The woman took her time, leaning back to adjust her shirt collar and puff out another cloud of smoke. Eventually she shifted her eyes, gazing down at the little canine who's appearance she found most unsightly upon closer observation. "As far as I know the only pain in my ass around here is you," she enunciated slowly as she leaned down closer to the Digimon's face. As her eyes narrowed, the contempt she felt for the other became apparent in her gaze. "Don't forget that your service is a mere benefit to me, not a necessity." Embarrassed over the fear her words had instilled in him, Gazimon snarled and turned away. "I just want to get my part of the deal over with," he answered in a mutter. Flicking the cigarette onto the floor, Annie stood back up. "Don't worry. I'll ensure this partnership doesn't last any longer than it needs to."
