31. Why?

Why?

WIPING my sweat with a towel, I sat and rested my head on the headrest of the couch. I got tired just by cleaning the whole house.

"Anak, sinasabi ko naman kasi sa 'yo na ako nalang maglilinis. Napagod ka tuloy,"

Napaangat ang tingin ko kay Nanay Amelia, siya ang nag alaga sa amin ni Kuya simula bata pa lamang at sa edad na 58 she still can do anything. Although I just gave her small and easy to do works, she would often cook for me and clean the whole house. She has been working for us for over 40 years, kaya noong makabalik ako dito sa Pilipinas, agad ko siyang hinanap at pinabalik sa bahay, she immediately agreed. Isa sa naging dahilan niya kung bakit pumayag ay dahil kailangan niya pa ding matustusan ang kanyang pamilya.

Nanay Amelia took the towel from me and she put it on my back. "Kakadating mo lang kahapon galing sa mahabang byahe, tapos heto naglilinis ka." sabi nito habang pinupunasan ang basa kong likod.

My eyes roamed around the house and examined every corner as if I was an expert when it comes to this field when in reality, I'm not.

"Nay, why don't we change the interior of the house?" I unconsciously asked.

"Wala namang problema sakin 'yon nak, pero tanungin mo muna sa kuya mo kung payag ba siya."

I just shrugged my shoulders and took my phone out to call my brother. His number was out of coverage so I called his office instead. His secretary answered the call and directed me to my Kuya.

"Yes?"

"Why is your phone out of coverage?" I asked instantly. It took him a while to answer may be wondering why I called him.

Nanay Amelia gave me a glass of juice for me to drink, I turned to her and mouthed thank you.

I heard my brother utter a curse. "It's low batt, don't end the call, I'll just charge this."

"Yeah, yeah," I mumbled boredly.

After a couple of minutes, he's back. "Why did you call, princess?"

So I took that chance to talk to him about my plan of changing the entire interior of the house.

"Are you busy, Kuya?" I asked first.

"Well, I am, but of course I have a lot of free time for my sister." He answered which made me smile.

I giggled, "Kuya, can I changed the interior of the house?"

"Princess, you cant," Simpleng sagot nito. I pouted and my shoulders drop. "You will be needing an interior designer for that, you're a doctor, it's pretty far from your profession." My brother added.

"Kuya, of course, kukuha ako ng interior designer!" I rolled my eyes even if my brother can't see it.

"Iparenovate mo nalang, the last time I went there the balcony near mom and dad's room is quite old, also the living room..." Marami pang sinabi si Kuya tungkol sa bahay, kesyo luma na daw yung ibang parte.

"Tinanong lang naman kita kung payag ka bang palitan ang interior ng bahay tapos ipaparenovate na? Saan ako titira kung ganon?" I chuckled after saying those.

"I'm just giving you my perspective, princess."

"Kung ipaparenovate ko yung bahay, will you help me pay the expenses?" I asked instead.
