Her name was Isabelle Lane. She was 23 and lived in the Shiganshina district. It was not as fancy as the ones behind Wall Sina, but it was home and she knew its streets better than the veins on her own arm.

She never considered herself pretty - the huge blue eyes on her face always made her look like a chipmunk begging for hazelnuts and her long black hair reminded her of a broom. However, she did have some nice qualities such as being an absolute clean freak and always reaching places on time, if that mattered at all.

She lived in a small two story house at the northernmost point of the district with her parents. Although they were pretty close, the family rarely spent time together. Her mom and dad always worked from early morning until late evening and by the time they got home Isabelle had already fallen asleep.

However, she loved them dearly and even though she was finding it difficult to get a job these days, she always tried to help them with whatever she could. For example, right now she was heading to the nearest market to get some fish for dinner.

While walking down the steps of her own home, she heard a loud BANG as if a meteorite had fallen on top of someone's roof. Next, dozens of people started screaming and yelling for help.

Isabelle couldn't move. She stood right there - on the steps of her own home, looking around and trying to figure out what was going on. Her palms were sweating and her legs immediately started shaking.

"It's finally happening. My worst fear has come true," she panicked.

While trying to gather her thoughts, a large figure appeared on the street and started running towards her in a clumsy way. It was a rather small titan - a 10 meter one, but Isabelle noticed that it was holding something in its hands. The titan's fingers were bent in towards its palms and were holding tightly the body of a soldier.

Isabelle shivered from fear. She knew it was somebody from the scouts regimen, because she noticed the wings of freedom on their uniform. Suddenly, the titan threw the body of the person across the street - something rather peculiar for a dumb titan to do, but still possible considering how unpredictable they all were.

The unconscious person's body rolled down the street, all covered in blood.

Isabelle hadn't moved an inch since she had heard the initial loud noise. She had never seen a titan in her life before - the girl had only heard stories her dad used to tell her when she was little about these huge monsters that lived beyond the walls and ate every unlucky person who dared to cross their path.

She looked at the soldier's body that was all beaten black and blue. While focusing more intensely on it, she realised it was Captain Levi - humanity's greatest soldier. If he managed to look like this after an encounter with a titan, what would be left from Isabelle then?

He was lying on the ground, his black hair covered his bruised face.  He seemed alive, but deeply injured. Levi didn't appear to be conscious at all.

The titan was no longer running, only stumbling on different objects on the ground, yet slowly approaching the Captain's body. Isabelle knew she had to do something, yet she couldn't move.

"If I don't help him, he's going to die," she told herself.

She had never seen Captain Levi as well. He, just like the monsters beyond the wall, was more like a myth that people often told each other about with admiration and awe. Isabelle knew how he looked like because little children would frequently put costumes and wigs that resembled him in order to get closer to his mysterious, yet fascinating persona.

Isabelle suddenly woke up from her petrifaction and rushed towards him. The titan was getting closer. She grabbed the Captain's uniform and started dragging his body towards her home. The girl was going to barricade the entry of her house and hide him inside.

Captain Levi's body, although muscular, was very lean and light. He looked like a mannequin - almost not of this world, beautiful and fragile, yet deadly.

What was she going to do? He had a deep injury on his leg that had painted his white uniform red.

Isabelle pulled Levi's body inside and shut the door. It was time to patch that guy up and somehow it had to be done while she ignored the massive titan outside her home that was trying to get in.
