Chapter 19

Daniel's Pov

It's been two days since the surgery and she's still not awake. The doctor's say she's extremely lucky that she's fine because the second bullet had hit so close to her heart and had been extremely hard to take out, but to me she was still technically not fine yet because she was in a coma, which scared the shit out of me and because it means no ones sure when she'll wake up.

Sam and all her friends visit during the day but me I have staied over night the past two nights and I intend to do for as long as she's in this hospital. Its night just now and I'm seated in the uncomfortable hospital chair next to Nora's bed when my phone started ringing. I answered without looking at the caller id,

"Hello," I said into the phone

"Daniel!" The sound of his voice and the seriousness it held made a shiver run down my spine.

"Dad?" It's been long since the last time we spoke but something told me that this was not a normal phone call.

"You call dad, and yet you don't have the decency to tell me when your brother is out to kill you!" Oh dear lord.

"How do you know?"

"The police rang me asking about his where abouts and plus I have people there," spies more like, but even so theyre a bit slowly considering its been two days.

"Well I'm fine so you can stop worring dad" I put a bitter tone while saying 'dad', trying to hint that I was very certain that he wasn't worried about me.

"I'm not worried," see what did I say

"Well at least I won't be til after two days" he continued much calmly than before.

"How's that?" I asked, confused as to what may be happening in two days.

"Because you'll be coming to live with me in America," he said it like it was a good thing!!

I let out a nervous laugh, " ey no I'm not dad,"

"Yes you are my son,"

"No I'm not!" I shouted scared, because I knew my dad and when he wanted something he got it.

"Don't you dare raise your voice at me!"

"S-sorry,"

"Now as I was saying, you will be expected to leave in two days so--"

"I can't leave, my whole life is here," I interrupted quickly trying to get everything I wanted to say out in the open.

"Daniel you don't understand," he stated with a loud sigh

"Well tell me and I might!"

"Fine! I want my sons back, not just you but Adam too. I left you both there so you can learn your own way in life but little did I know one would be come a drug dealer and try to shoot his brother. How do you think that makes me feel as a father." This was a lot of truth to be said from my dad in one phone call, but I kept quiet as he continued

"I know I haven't always treated you both the same and I know it is my fault things have turned out like this, and so I have decided I will do better in the future for the both of you to make up for the past."

"You cant just decide 'you want your sons back' and there you have them. Adam's broken the law he needs to be punished,"

"I know that and he will be, till then Daniel you will stay with me and finish your education,"

"No I won't. I will not leave this place," I stated with confidence mostly because I didn't want to seem weak.

"Not even when I don't pay for your personal university tutor, or when I take away the house I have payed for or even when I stop your cheques going into your account each month"

"You wouldn't?" I no longer felt the confidence I felt a minute ago, actually I felt weak and helpless. I'd be okay if my dad took away my home tutor, i'd just go to university and get a student loan, I could probably even live without the monthly cheques, just get a job but without a roof over my head...that's just too much even for me.

"Trust me son, I will," he stated proudly, "I will get one of my private jets to come for you in two days,"

"I don't want a private jet, I want to come my self,"

"Fine, I will book your ticket, just bring some clothing I will take care of the rest of your belongings, see you in two days my son" and with that he hung up leave me both shocked and terrified of what will happen to my life in just a matter of days. I looked at Nora, lying on the bed looking pale as ever and couldn't help but feel a painful ache in my heart at the fact that I might never see her again.
