In the Solo's mansion
"It's a rare sight to see my cousin this happy" Susan said glancing at Ben over the rim of her wine glass, seeing his broad smile and how much he has started to open up to people. She looked to her left to see Rey gazing at him with a hint of a smile on her lips. Susan smiled fondly upon seeing their relationship. It was truly something out of a fairytale book.
Susan studied her new-found friend. She must say that this woman right here is a true beauty. The long auburn hair seems to be cascading down her back like flowing chocolate milk with her big hazel eyes that seems to shine under the sunlight like honey. A well mannered lady who speaks firmly yet politely. She is perfect. Susan can understand why Ben chose her.
It was quite a shock to her that Ben have a girlfriend. A wonderful one at that. She had introduced herself to Rey a moment ago and they somehow clicked.
Susan find solace when she listen to Rey's past about her dear mother—who died a month later after giving birth to her. Rey stood strong when reminiscing about her mother's departure. But now she was alright. Her father—Ben Kenobi helped her got to her feet. Susan can hear the pain in her voice and it shatters her completely. Susan feels connected with this woman because she herself grow up without a parent to love—her only mother and father figures are her aunt Leia and uncle Han. Upon hearing her story, Rey hugged her tightly, whispering wholeheartedly words to encourage her. It must be hard losing a mother to leukemia and her father—Luke Skywalker—to an unknown car accident shortly after her birth. Rey felt grateful for having her father with her unlike some unlucky people. They cried but somehow it need to stop. The past is not important anymore. What more important is that we make the best of our future.
Shortly after, they conversed about the latest fashion and whatnot. They were practically glued to the hip at this point. And now, they were seated in the ballroom like everyone else. Some are dancing their hearts out while others just stay behind the background enjoying the music.
"Why do you think that?" Rey asked her, eyebrows furrowed. Susan shrugged nonchalantly, sipping more of the wine.
"Simple, my cousin rarely comes home to see his parents unless it is a special occasion and when he did, he would appear disheveled or dull. It kind of looks like he's soulless" Rey looked at Ben, concern filling her heart. What had happened to him?
'Oh Ben...' Rey thought, heart aching for him.
"But now I can see why he looks so happy" Susan passed her finished glass of wine to the waiter—turning to Rey with a look of amazement.
"Why?" Rey asked, dumbfounded. Susan rolled her eyes at her. Seriously?
"It's you" Rey turned away when she felt her face turning warm. She smiled discreetly at that.
"Honestly, girl, are you really that dense that you haven't seen the way he would gaze at you from time to time? Or you didn't feel the tension? Even an outsider like me can smell your attraction for each other a mile away!" susan exaggerates, her hands switching from Ben to Rey as if to emphasize the 'tension' she speak of.
Rey actually did notice it but she didn't think about it too much. Sometimes she could feel his burning gaze at the back of her head, watching her like a predator. Her heart was beating wildly in her chest when she glanced at his direction only to gasped silently when saw him gazing at her from across the dining room, smirking devilishly. Their eyes locked onto each other. It feels like time has stop and only the two of them present. Rey chewed her bottom lip nervously which seems to grab his attention to her lips. She let out an audible gasp when his eyes snapped to hers with a new-found emotion. Hunger. Hungry for her.
