PROLOGUE
The girl's boots sent a cloud of frosty smoke behind her like a puff from a cigar. She shivered, bringing her matching leather jacket closer, balling her fists in the pockets. She nervously glanced behind her, yet her posture remained unaffected. Despite the thick suspense that hung in the air, her head was still held high. She seemed completely oblivious to the predator that lurked behind her. But inside she smirked, she picked up on his stench about a block ago. The thick, sickly sweet smell that was usually accompanied by fangs and a certain thirst for blood.
Luke watched the girl, closing in on her dignified figure. She was beautiful, even by vampiric standards, and she was no vampire. Her aura was much to warm for that. Even her beauty had a certain warmness to it. So unlike the cold alien like beauty of the female vampires. Her long, golden blonde hair was wavy and long, reaching mid back. Her lips were soft and plump, a light pink color. Her skin; softly tanned like someone who had spent most of their life on the beach. Her figure was stunning. And she walked with a tantalizing confidence. He would enjoy breaking her.
Nothing personal, he just had to drink. In fact he liked the girl.
He liked her manners, she had showed the doorman at the hotel. He liked the way she dressed, making the worn leather jacket and band shirt seem elegant on her smooth shoulders. He liked the way she talked, reminding him of the way people spoke when this world was younger.
A sudden gust of wind sent her seductive smell to him. His mouth involuntarily watered. His feet carried him closer. His eyes shifted to a brilliant red color. His thoughts were clouded by bloodlust, so much in fact that he didn't get a good look at her eyes like he planned to. His first mistake. His muscles bunched in anticipation and he licked his lips. He pounced.
His eyes widened when she spun around, swinging her leg underneath him, knocking him off his feet. Her reflexes even greater than a vampire, greater than a shifter, greater than anything he's ever seen except for- "Lumina" He whispered. His eyes widened even further. Her eyes a glittering gold where they had once been a brilliant hazel. Her smirk widened into a smile as she helped him off the ground. A smile that glittered like poisonous waters. She immediately clutched his neck and pushed him into the nearest wall. "Hello lover boy " She snarled. She leaned in closer than before, her lips grazing his ear.
"MIss me?"
