"This book terrifies me!" Ron complained as the four of them followed the rest of the group to the care of magical creatures class.
Seraphina glanced down at her own monstrous book. She remembered her father jumping up on the table and begging her to "hocus pocus" it to death. Her chuckle made Harry ask, "What is it?" "Ah, nothing. Just something with my dad..." Seraphina smiled. "
Look on the bright side. At least Hagrid is our professor!" Hermione beamed.
"That is something to look forward to. He'll be my favorite professor," Seraphina declared.
"I bet he'll give us points even if we do nothing!" Ron grinned.
"He would not do such a thing!" Hermione frowned. Besides, she didn't like free points. She liked earning them.
Seraphina smiled as she watched her friends squabble over Hagrid. Before they knew it, they reached the forest where class was going to take place.
"Hi, Hagrid!" Ron waved eagerly. "It's Professor Hagrid now," Hermione grinned.
Hagrid sheepishly smiled before motioning them to join the crowd.
"How the hell are we supposed to even open this thing?" Draco snarled as he held up the furry book.
"Just stroke the spine, of course," Hagrid clucked his tongue and left.
Draco rolled his eyes with a sneer and joined his friends. "Wait until my father hears that Dumbledore got this oaf teaching classes."
"Shut up, Malfoy," Harry quipped, making the Slytherins laugh uproariously.
Draco grinned and walked right up to Harry.
Seraphina tensed, and she knew Ron and Hermione were also ready to spring into action if Draco did anything to Harry. Suddenly, Draco yelled "dementor," forcing Harry to spin around with a pale face. The Slytherins laughed, and Draco mocked him.
Seraphina shook her head. She had no idea how he was the same person as the one who had secretly given her a tie this morning. She pulled Harry away with an icy glare. "Seriously, get a life, Draco."
"Don't talk to him that way," Pansy snapped.
"Make me," Seraphina sneered right in her face. She wasn't scared to punch a bitch
. "Come on, Seraphina. She's not worth it," Hermione said as she tugged on her wrist.
Seraphina narrowed her eyes at Pansy and gave her one last warning glare before walking away.
"Both of you need to cool your temper!" Hermione scolded.
"They started it," Seraphina muttered. She glanced at Harry and noticed he was still pale. Gently, she touched his arm and asked, "Are you okay?" "I'm fine," he assured.
"Let's start class now," Hagrid announced.
Everyone looked up and immediately turned rigid.
"W-What is that?" Harry asked.
Hagrid proudly announced, "It's a hippogriff! Its name is Buckbeak!"
"It's huge," Ron whispered, and Seraphina swallowed hard. She wasn't really afraid of anything, but this was something she'd never seen before.
