Kai watched as the waves swished. It was cold, and wet that day. They could jump, then and there. 'Would anyone care if I was gone?' Kai thought but sighed as they continued to walk to the shitty place that is Rose Way High School. Kai was 17 in their 12th year of high school.  Kai grabbed their phone and checked the date and time, 5:23am, Wednesday, May 12th. They walked, they could've waited for the bus but didn't it was early and they couldn't sleep so they gave up. Kai's stomach growled as they walked to the café, they had about 35$ in their wallet so, enough to have a decent breakfast. It was almost 6am by the time Kai got to the café. Happy to see it was open. But, that happiness soon faded into the numbness they felt everyday.

The 17 year old got their food and coffee and sat down, grabbed their laptop and started working on their homework that'd been given to them the day before. It was empty in the café since they just opened and it was like 6am. It was nice and quiet though. Kai finished their homework and food and started their way back to the high school.

It was around 7:30 by the time Kai got to school. Kids were walking, some kids waiting for their friends. All that shit. Kai sighed as they walked into the empty building. Listening to some random song, at that point they didn't even care. The day went by slow, the kids in the hall gossiping, and shit. Really, just being complete dicks. Kai couldn't care less though. They'd already dealt with all that shit since 9th grade. It was stupid really, on how empty they'd felt since the start of high school.

They walked home, it took about 2 hours. At this point it was down pouring. But they had time to think. 'What if I just left? High jacked mothers car and left? Got out of this stupid town and start a new life?' A sigh left their mouth as Kai unlocked the door. A smell of cigarettes filled their scent. 'Mother is here...' They walked to their room and closed and locked the door.

A few weeks went by, Kai got more into the idea of leaving. So. They worked, found jobs worked 24/7 outside of school. They had now gathered about 20,000 dollars from the jobs they worked at. After a fight with their mother, the final thread that kept Kai from leaving broke. They got a bag and got all their valuables. Earlier that week they'd gone to a car shop and bought the cheapest car they could get. With about 3,000 dollars left. Kai waited until their mother left for work. Got in the car and started driving. They didn't know where, but at this point they didn't care.

After a week of driving and staying in crappy motels. They finally found a place to stop. A cheap apartment building is what they ended up at. The town was cute. A little run down, but good enough for a little bit.

One of the nights at the motel they completely wiped all their electronics. In case, their mother actually care that Kai had gone missing.

A year later, they finished high school that was in the town and traveled to university. Kai made some friends, and met someone. A petite guy that they'd soon fall for. To Kai they'd did the best thing ever.

But to everyone in the gloomy town of Rose Way. Kai was

Going.

Going.

Gone.

So! That was a short story, I though of it in English class, while doing a benchmark. Tell me what you think of it! I may make it an actual story if it gets good responses but who knows! It might have some mistakes but I'm to lazy to check. Anyway, thanks for reading!!
