Ambivalence's Birthday

Happy 24th Birthday, Aretha!

The date was September 20th, 2020. Aretha Asbury [Ambivalence] was driving up to her boyfriend Hougetsu Nishiyomi [Phoenix Moon]'s house just to spend some time with him. Once she got to the drive way, she parked her car and got out. She saw Ace the German Shepherd running up to her.

Ambivalence: Hi, Ace. I'm sorry I can't pet you.

Ace barked and led her to the front door.

Ambivalence: Thank you for the assistance.

Ace went back to his doghouse. Aretha knocked on the door. Hougetsu answered it a minute later.

Phoenix Moon: Hi, Aretha.

Ambivalence: Hi, little birdie!

Phoenix Moon: I was just going out to the greenhouse to water the plants. Maybe you would like to help me?

Ambivalence: I would love to.

Phoenix Moon: Here's an extra watering can.

Ambivalence: Thanks.

The couple walked out to the greenhouse.

Ambivalence: There's a lot of work that needs to get done.

Phoenix Moon: Yep. You can do that side, while I get the other.

Ambivalence: That seems fair.

The 2 of them got done about 20 minutes later.

Ambivalence: There.

Phoenix Moon: Thank you for helping me.

Ambivalence: You're welcome. Let's go back in the house.

Phoenix Moon: Alright.

The couple walked into the house.

Phoenix Moon: By the way, I remember your birthday was today.

Ambivalence: Yep.

Phoenix Moon: I made you a card.

He handed her a birthday card. Aretha read it to herself.

Ambivalence: You really know how to draw hearts. Thank you for the birthday card.

Phoenix Moon: You're welcome.

Ambivalence: So, how's our little baby in there?

Phoenix Moon: It's still there. I'm only 17 weeks pregnant, you know.

Ambivalence: Yeah. Do we know if it's a boy or a girl yet?

Phoenix Moon: According to Veronica, it's going to be a girl.

Ambivalence: Oh, that's great. When is she due again?

Phoenix Moon: At the end of February 2021, on the 26th.

Ambivalence: Okay. Do your parents know that you're pregnant?

Phoenix Moon: Not yet. But when they come home for the holidays, I'll tell them.

Ambivalence: I haven't seen them since Ame's funeral.

Phoenix Moon: Me neither. I still miss Ame.

Ambivalence: I do, too. But she's a ghost now.

Phoenix Moon: Yeah, I know. I feel like she's watching over me sometimes.

Ambivalence: Are you thinking of naming our baby after her?

Phoenix Moon: We'll see.

And so, Aretha and Hougetsu spent the rest of the day together.
