Chapter Seven –

He yanked the door open, looking like he had just gotten out of bed. He ruffled his hair before looking at her – his eyes widening to a surprised visitor in an ungodly hour.

“Samantha, what are you doing here?”

He asks, trying to say it in the calmest way. Her eyes were red and swollen, dried tears visible around her cheeks. She sniffed, forcing out a friendly smile. She looked past him, noticing there was no one else in the house but him. He stayed there, waiting for her to respond.

“Morning, Zayn. Seems like you don’t want me here, huh? Have some secret inside?”

She says, chuckling half-heartedly. He forced out a smile, taking a step backwards, motioning for her to go inside. He knew something was up when they sat down on the couch across each other – Samantha evading his gaze. There was an awkward silence consisting of her choked up tears and sniffles until he cleared his throat, watching her look at him.

“What happened?”

He asks calmly, watching her try to keep the tears away. She shrugged, heaving out a deep sigh before composing herself, managing to choke out words.

“Charlie and I fought.”

Zayn’s eyes widened. Why would she and Charlie fight? Zayn’s known Charlie for a good 2 years – he would never do that to the girl he lo—is best friends with.

“What, wait why?!!?!”

He shouts, obviously shocked with what happened. Samantha herself was shocked. She clearly knew why they fought, but Zayn didn’t. So he managed to ask.

“I know Charlie for a good two years. He would never get mad at you. Why did you guys fight?”

He asks, walking towards Samantha, sitting down beside her and wrapping her with his arms. He continuously rubbed her shoulder back and forth with his hand, hoping to comfort her in the best way he could do. She sat silent for a few seconds, heaving yet another deep sigh before venting out to Zayn once again.

“Louis…”

She murmured, hoping Zayn wouldn’t catch what she said – but he did. His mouth was agape – surprised of the reason they fought. He stopped rubbing her shoulder and just placed his arm back in its original position.

“Why did you guys fight about Louis?

He asks, hoping he would get a valid answer – but instead, she just sighed, fiddling with her hands, evading his gaze.

“I actually don’t know. It’s just that… it kind of… happened.”

She mutters, not having the strength to look up and watch his reaction. His face was blank, as well as his reaction. A fight as big as that doesn’t kind of happened. Someone must’ve brought it up.

“I know you well enough. Who started it anyway?”

He asks – his tone still calm. She sighed once more, shutting her eyes tightly as she looks up to his direction, slowly fluttering it open after saying the words she dreaded to say.

“I kind of did…” She muttered, opening her eyes quickly to see Zayn’s reaction.

His mouth was agape, multiple thoughts running in his mind. Why would she start it? Why would she start fighting with Charlie about Louis? It’s preposterous. Something like that is unbearable.
