Kat and Adena never go on dates. They got past the awkward dating stage and started secluding themselves to one of their apartments everytime they were together. Kat had been content with this until Adena spoke of a new restaurant that was opening near time's square so she decided to ask her out to go there, she never missed an opportunity to see her girlfriend dressed up and glamorous.
They decided to get ready at their own apartments separately, adding to the element of surprise and specialness of the evening. This is why Kat was confused to here a hard knock at her door at 7pm.
She opened it slowly, locking eyes with Sutton who stood beside Jane outside. After racking her brain for a few seconds to figure out why they were there, she noticed that they were both dressed up formally with a bottle of wine clutched in each of their right hands.
"We had plans?" Kat asks the girls.
They mistake her forgetfulness for sarcasm and let themselves in.
"You look hot." Sutton compliments Kat, eyeing up the black jumpsuit and heels that she was wearing.
Kat's heart began to thud as she tried to think of an excuse to cancel on the girls, but she made the decision not to after seeing the glint in their eyes as they spoke about how this would be their first night out all together in weeks.
"Do you guys fancy going somewhere else?" Kat asked sweetly, and rather hopefully.
Both girls raised their eyebrows, hinting at her to elaborate her newfound plans.
"Adena was talking about a new restaurant in Times Square, maybe we could eat there?"
Kat played it cool, still trying to find a way to slip in the fact that Adena will be there.
"Dinner sounds good." Jane shrugs, unbothered by the plans and just focused on being surrounded by her bestfriends for the night.
"What about Adena?" Sutton asks, "won't she be annoyed at you for going without her?"
"Kat can just invite her?" Jane suggests.
Kat smiles with glee, happy that her problem was quickly solved by the kind hearts of her two best friends.

Adena was confused to see Kat get out of the cab with the two other girls, yet she kept a smile on her face despite her disappointment that they wouldn't have much alone time.
The feeling was mutual, as soon as Kat saw Adena dressed in a flawless black dress and golden hijab she regretted her decision of inviting along Sutton and Jane.
"Hi Kat," Adena says softly as her girlfriend pecks her lips gently, "Jane, Sutton," she smiles at the other two girls. The girls smile back at her.
"I'm sorry, I forgot I made plans with them and I couldn't turn them away at the door." Kat apologises, whispering in Adena's ear so the girls didn't hear.
"It's okay," Adena responds, "we have plenty of time to be alone together tonight."
Kat blushes, the forwardness that Adena occasionally exhibits almost always catches her off guard.
They enter the restaurant, and Adena was right - it really is beautiful.
The food was just as good, living up to the expectations that the restaurants atmosphere had given it. All four girls took part in casual chatter, laughing together playfully for an hour or two.
"Should we get going?" Adena directs the question to Kat, but unfortunately it was loud enough for the whole group to hear.
"Let's dig into the wine we left at your place?" Sutton says it as a question, but has already assumed the answer is yes as she pulls out her phone to order a cab for four to Kats.
Adena squeezes Kat's thigh under the table with frustration, but smiles back at Sutton and agrees to join the three girls back at Kat's.
"You're going to make it up to me later." Adena demands into Kat's ear before she kisses her a little too sexually for public.
Sutton clears her throat loudly, disrupting the two lovers out of each others gaze.

Back at Kat's apartment Jane and Sutton are sat at the kitchen table whilst Kat and Adena are intertwined with one another on the couch.
Kat leans in slowly and places her lips onto Adena's, the kiss starts off slow and innocent but soon both of their tongues are colliding and Adena is moaning into her girlfriend with eagerness.
Sutton hears said moan and laughs, making Kat pull away from Adena and stare at her friends, annoyed.
Adena giggles and gets up to join the other two girls at the kitchen table, picking up some cards to play cards against humanity with them. Kat rolls her eyes as Jane chuckles at the clear sexual frustration spread across her face.
If Kat's bedroom had actual walls, and her bed was out of sight to Jane and Sutton, she would simply drag Adena into her bedroom for some alone time - but she couldn't - so she too stands up to join the girls at the table.
