I always heard that love is a flower. That all it needed was healthy communication as a fundamental nutrient for it to prosper. Screw that. If I was a flower, I wouldʻve withered a long time ago.

I gazed outside the window. The field appeared more dismal than usual. Ever since the roses withered, the garden never was that charming anymore. I was a rose. I believed that I was a rose. Now Iʻm not, but we donʻt talk about that.

A loud yell rang throughout the classroom after the bell rang. What idiot would do that?

I turn my body to see where the source of the noise came from. Of course, it was my best friend, Hoseok. My idiot. He stayed with me through thick and thin.

"MIA!" he cried dramatically. He practically threw his body down on the floor in desperation. He looked at me with pleading eyes. "Something bad happened!"

"What is it this time Hobi," I groan, "Did you fail another test again. You know that if you keep this up, you wonʻt graduate this year."

"My love life is in danger!"

"Good."

Hoseok started sobbing. He clutched onto my arm and held tightly. Usually, I wouldʻve punched him and told him to get off of me, but today I felt generous. Love life problems, huh. I wish my love life could be in danger too.

"Ugh, what happened Hobi," I asked.

"This girl asked me out, but I donʻt like her. But, like, I want to have a girlfriend to flex off at school. Sheʻs nice, but I donʻt think sheʻs my type. When she confessed, I, er, sort of just ran away. She probably thinks Iʻm a loser and that I-"

"Ok, thatʻs enough," I cover his mouth with my hands. Itʻs only the 4th period, and heʻs already giving me a monologue of his life problems. I needed to calm him down before I went hysterical. Itʻs annoying when he complains like that. But I have to admit. It is somewhat funny.

Hoseokʻs eyes widened when a girl walked inside the classroom. She had platinum blonde hair reaching down to her waist. She scanned the room with contempt. The girl held what seemed to be a love letter clutched to her chest. I could tell this was the person who confessed to Hoseok.

Almost instinctively, Hoseok crept down under my desk, clutching one of the legs from my desk. The girl did a scan of the classroom, saw and started approaching me. Poor, Poor Hoseok, it would be a shame if someone ratted you out...

"Um, have you seen Hoseok anywhere nearby?" She mumbled as she twirled her hair with a downcasted look in her eyes.

"Canʻt say that I have," I trailed off. I shifted my eyes to Hoseok for a split second. He is the epitome of pure terror. Wide eyes, furrowed brows, and an ashen face look good on him.

"Oh, okay," the girl said, stumbling over her words while fidgeting with her skirt. She dropped her head, slowly headed towards the classroom doors.

Sheʻs really pretty. I would have never guessed that out of every boy in this school, she confessed to Hoseok and got rejected. Hoseok is my beloved, precious best friend but, like, what did that girl see in him? I spend every day with Hoseok, yet I don't really see any romantic material in him.

Our teacher, Mr. Bang, strolled into the classroom and knocked into her with a bewildered expression on his face. He was slightly astonished at how downhearted she looked. She literally just ignored and plodded past him like she was a zombie.

"My word! The first period barely started, and it already looks to me that you've had it with the school," He chuckled as he watched her walk out. She shuffled to the door, pushing it open.

"Kids these days," he shook his head, headed straight to his desk filled with mountains of papers.

I rolled my eyes, kicking Hobi under my desk. "She's gone loser. Go to your desk," I uttered to him.

He winced in pain, "Okay, okay. Don't need to be mean." He moved to his seat, slumped in his chair conveniently next to mine. Kids began to pour into the classroom before the first bell rang.

Mr. Bang plopped effortlessly into his chair. He shuffled his lesson plan, adjusted his glasses, all with an enormous grin on his face. His optimism scares me a lot.Last time he was so happy, he gave us two pop quizzes in different subjects! Planned pop quizzes.

"Ho-ho! I have some very delightful news for you, my beloved students," There was something sinister about the way he stared at us, especially towards me." We have a transfer student coming to our class.

Everyone erupted with awe. Chaos consumed the classroom as everyone badgered Mr. Bang with questions. Hoseok looked at me with wide eyes and mouthed something to me. I ignored him. Like literally, all I wanted was a peaceful day in class, and apparently thatʻs too much to ask for.

"That's not all," He chuckled, "Lim Mia will be the lucky person who gets to be his guide!"

I sighed. Great, now I have to be at this transfer studentʻs beck and call! This is crazy. Will my life ever amount to anything peaceful at all?

Just as I was considering how to transfer schools myself, a soft knock came from the classroom door. It's them. I know it's the transfer student.

"Everyone, be on your best behavior, especially you, Jung Hoseok," Mr. Bang cautioned sternly. I held my laugh in.

"You may come in!"

The transfer student quietly entered the room. I can already tell what's about to happen next. In 3...2...1 and-

The classroom blew up with excitement and quiet, ferocious whispers. Like why whisper if everyone can hear you. Stupid people these days.

"Holy shit, don't me tell that's.."

"No way is that.."

Hoseok exclaimed, "PARK JIMIN!"
