Description: A girl named Cassie Sutton-blonde hair, blue eye. She meets a Duke Barton, a vampire, during the rough times of her life. She falls herself into a struggle trying to help him. Trying to solve the problem, she finds that she had already...
Duke and Cassie were walking through the woods. They both had many questions swirling in their heads. Duke wanted to know about her family, her parents. But he didn't want to ask any personal questions right away. Cassie, on the other hand, had no patience left and broke the silence that hung between them.
"I don't know if I could ask you this, but..."Cassie said, worryingly.
"Ask no problem." Duke chattered.
Cassie slowly flipped the ends of her blonde ponytail over her shoulder.
"What if someone is waiting for you to go back? I mean your home town. Your family or relatives or friends or someone to whom your absence is heartbreaking." She took a sideways glance at him.
"I don't think there will be anyone. My family consisted of my dad, mom, elder sis, and myself. My mom and sis died in a car accident when I was in fifth grade. And I told you about my dad. So, no family member left to remember me. Then about friends and relatives...they will do just fine without me." Duke pauses for a moment, thinking of someone. Suddenly nodding off his thoughts, "As time passes, everyone will learn to forget and move on." He added.
Hearing this, Cassie went numb. She felt that her heart was exploding into trillions of pieces. She also felt feeble and fragile inside. Her watery blue eyes were trying to fight back her tears. She wanted to scream out loud that nothing will change with time. Biting the inside of her cheeks, she calmed herself down. Parting her lips, she took a deep breath.
"It's not that easy, you know moving on. Some things cannot be erased even after years." She said wryly.
Duke straightened his neck and glanced sharply at her. He knew that she was right.
"I guess you have a lot of experience yourself." He read the sadness in her face. He knew that she wasn't interested to continue this topic any further. "Maybe we should talk about this later." He said, increasing his pace.
"I prefer you to walk this way. It's a shortcut to town." She announced, walking the other way.
"Excellent." He whispered and started following her.
Soon they walked over the interlocked floor from the sand and gravel one. The town was on view and they halted.
"Where do you stay?" Cassie asked with concern.
"For now, I'm staying in Castel Hotel. But I've no idea where to go once my cash is over." Duke said with a faint grin.
"Oh...uh...Are you free today? It's Saturday."
"Yeah. Why?"
"When you are free, you should come to the 'Sutton & Mills' restaurant. It's on the right side of-"
"So, it's your restaurant." Duke interrupted, giving a clue that he already knew where it is.
"Nope, my dad's," Cassie said with a grin.
"Okay, I'll come."
"I'm this way." Taking one hand from the pocket of her pink sweatshirt, she pointed.
"I'm that way." Duke said, pointing the opposite direction.
"Bye." They both said simultaneously.
They both gave a slight nod to each other and diverted to two different ways.
