An Unexpected Challenge

Percy's POV:

While I was walking towards the jewellery shop, suddenly a girl walked up to me and said, "Hello Perseussss, ssson of Possseidon, what are you doing on thisss fine day?" She knew who I was, I immediately uncapped Riptide and was ready to take on this empousai. I just hope I could still get Annabeth her necklace, but right now I need to focus on killing this monster. She charged first, I ducked. I sliced her but she dodged. She was really fast for an empousai. She ran up to me and scratched my my hoodie, which I was planning to wear. I took this chance to lunge and stab her. She evaporated and golden dust was sprinkled all over me. I brushed them off and putting Riptide back into my pocket. 

I went to the jewellery shop and quickly purchased an owl shaped necklace and I requested that it needed to have specks of sea-green. I also engraved 'Wise Girl' on the back of the pendant. I then felt happy and placed it in a small grey paper bag.

"Percy!" I heard someone shout, it turned out it was Jack Jefferson, son of Apollo, he was tall, with dirty blonde hair and good looking. I don't see him much at camp but we still talk from time to time. "Hey Jack! What brings you here?" "Oh you know, just walking around, trying to find a gift for Annabeth." Once I heard her name, I froze in literal shock. He liked her too? No wonder he has been talking to Annabeth more these days. "Since you were buying a gift for her, you gave me a go do the same. Annabeth will never fall for you, Percy. I'm planning to steal her heart tonight." I was furious! I clenched my fist and gritted my teeth. I thought he was a good friend, now he was just trying to steal Annabeth away from me. I tried to talk and said, "Oh it's on Jefferson."
