Annabeth's POV:

After sword practice, Percy came back from the mall and looked depressed. Like someone challenged him to do something that he wasn't happy about. I was about to walk up to him and have a nice talk, when Jake Jefferson walked up right in front of me and asked, "Hey Annabeth, would you like to the forest with me tonight?" I was puzzled, I didn't like Jake at all, he's just like a friend to me. Now he's asking me to go on a date with him? I was still waiting for Percy but I don't think he's going to tell me anytime soon. I guess I could just go to the forest with him, you know just for a talk. I need to clear my mind anyways. "Sure, I could go to the forest with you as a friend, and have a nice chat." I said. I didn't want him to think of it as a date. Then I saw Percy looking towards us, our eyes met and he ran back to him cabin. "Sorry Jake, I need to go somewhere."

I ran to cabin 3 and knocked on it, "Percy, I know you're in there. I would like to talk to you." I shouted loud enough so he can hear. He opened the door and wouldn't meet my eyes. "Hi Annabeth, what do you need?" he said. "Can I come into your cabin so we could have a chat?" I asked. "Sure Wise girl, come in." I walked in and fresh sea smell I always adored. I sat on his bed looking at him. "Why do you feel depressed? I saw you come back and you looked... miserable. Then, when Jake asked me if he could go chat with me in the woods tonight, you r--" I was cut off, "Jake asked you to go on a date with him tonight?!" "Um yeah, it's not a date, just a friendly chat. Why do you care?" I know i triggered him when I asked him. "He really did mean it." he mumbled. "What?" I asked, "No, no it's nothing, it's just..." he whispered "Seaweed brain, it's not a date, I have no feelings for him ok? Besides, I have feelings for someone else..." I trailed off whispering that last sentence. "What? Who?" he eagerly asked. "Nothing, it's just someone..." I said blushing. "Um ok, well, have fun tonight, don't go too far out into the woods. Bring your dagger incase something happens. Be--" Now I cut him off. "It's just a walk, it's a rare chance that there would be a sudden monster attack, besides, I'll scream for help when that happens ok?" "Ok, just be careful, I don't wa--" he was once again cut off, but this time, by the dinner horn (A/N: what are they called again?) "Well, it looks like we got to go eat dinner. Bye Percy and I promise I'll bring my dagger." I smiled, his face lit up when I mentioned 'dinner', he sure do love eating.

After I burnt my leftovers for Athena, Jake walked up to me and held my hand. I quickly took it away, "What was that for?" I glared daggers at him. "This is not a date, just a friendly chat, remember?" He rolled his eyes and said, "Calm down, I won't hold your hand anymore. Now come on, let's go to the forest." I followed him and made sure my dagger was with me, and we walked towards the dark woods.
