Expectations

Day One

" MOM! I have to go! I'm going to be late!" Syndir yelled from the bottom of the steps. She waited as her mom quickly got out of the shower. " Just a minute honey!" She yelled back as sweetly as she could. " Oh...I'm so going to be late.." Syndir thought. For her first day of High School, she wore her black skinny jeans her mom bought her a week ago, a white loose fitting hoodie, black and white converses, and a grey beanie. She pulled out her phone to see the time instead of looking at her watch, noticing it was 8:45.

Her mother came down the stairs with a small bump on her head. Her mom wore sweats and a polo with crappy sandals she had for years. They finally got to the car and zoomed to school.

As they arrived, the tires loudly screeched as they came to a complete stop in front of the school. " Can I ask what happened to your hea-?" Her mother cut her off. " Honey don't worry about me, just go!" She smiled and unlocked the door. She hopped out quickly and waved goodbye.

Syndir turned to the large school, feeling like a nervous fish in a bowl. She walked carefully towards the stairs, gently placing her feet on each step.

" Are you ok?" A girl poked her shoulder curiously. Syndir jumped and squeaked. " Holy...Yes I am fine." She tilted her head down and squeezed between her eyebrows stressfully and looked up.

" Didn't mean to spook you...Hi.. I'm Niki" she quickly stuck out her hand and smiled a comforting smile. Syndir hesitated, but grabbed her hand and shook it, a smile crept on her face

" Im Syndir.." They both had small talk, but it seemed they knew each other for years! Same favorite food, color, music, everything. Syndir was looking forward to this year she thought. Yet she knew things were going to happen.
