as you walked up the steps to the school, you realised you had free period first, meaning you could've slept in a little later and got away with it easily.
"stupid move." you scolded yourself, turning around and beginning to descend the stairs.
"hey! (y/n)!" a boy called out from behind you, his footsteps heavy on the concrete ground. whipping your head around you noticed stiles bolting down the stairs to meet you, a goofy grin on his face. "where you going? i thought you were in my math class first period?" he asked, bouncing up and down as he quickly awaited your response.
"nope." you replied, making your way down another set of steps. the pale boy followed close behind you, his breathing heavy behind you as you quickly made your way down the stairs, not wanting to waste any of your precious sleeping time.
"slow down woman." stiles begged as you made your way over to your car.
chuckling lightly, you got into your car, not bothering to talk to him. "don't you have math?" you asked, starting your car but keeping the window rolled down.
stiles shrugged, a stupid grin reappearing on his face.
"don't give me that look. it's gross." you gagged, shivering slightly at the look of him looking at you like that.
"could i catch a ride with you?" he asked giving you the puppy dog eyes as he placed his hands on the top of you car.
"no." you told him, starting to roll up the window.
"c'mon, don't be so cold." he begged, frowning at you as the window became fully closed. you sighed, contemplating wether or not if you should let him come with you or not.
"fine, only because he'll never let me forget this moment if i don't let him in." You rationalised with yourself, unlocking the door, signifying he could enter the car.
stiles smiled widely, bouncing over to the passenger side of the car.
"where do you live stilinski?" you asked as you relocked the door.
"stalker-ish much, (y/n)?" stiles teased staring at the school as you drove away quickly, not in the mood to get caught by a teacher.
"leave you by the first trash can i see? sounds like a plan to me." you commented sarcastically, rolling your eyes at how annoying he was being.
"offended. highly offended."
rolling your eyes, you decided to just head home and have the boy walk, after all he's in high school so he should know the way around the town he's lived in for his whole life now, right? as you sped down the streets of beacon hills your thoughts stranded to calculating how much time you had to sleep. you stopped your thoughts as you realised you had arrived outside your house.
"have fun walking." you muttered before hoping out the car and making your way towards your house.
"you're mean." you heard stiles whine, his complains followed by the sound of him following you closely behind.
"go home." you ordered, almost as if you were talking to a dog.
"i skip math to hang out with my new friend and i'm told to go home? not even lydia would be this cold." he told you, walking besides you now as you made your way around the back.
you sighed heavily as you reached the door, "friends? please, maybe acquaintances if you weren't so damn annoying."
"you're mean." stiles pouted, nudging you with his shoulder.
"no, i'm practical. i don't need friends when i'm just going to end up moving again. my parents have had us move all around after my sisters death, as if it'll fix anything. they need to just stop giving me those damn flowers and realise that she's dead, long gone, and i'm moving on without her." you snapped, on the verge of tears.
obviously, stiles noticed the pain in your eyes due to the fact that he pulled you into a tight hug, rubbing your back. as he pulled away you gazed into his eyes, feeling relieved you were finally able to just let it out. "yeah, why mess around with friends when you're going to move again? well, maybe because friends can help you out." he grinned you, placing his hands on your shoulders.
"i don't play well with others." you grunted him, looking down at your shoes in embarrassment.
it's true, even back in maine you barely had any friends, and you lived there for over 10 years of your life.
"issac doesn't, but he still works out perfectly with our weird little pack." the boy reassured, causing you to look up and see him smiling. "now can we go inside? i'm kinda bored standing out in your backyard when i skipped math and could be listening to scott rant about kira, which is actually quite entertaining because he sounds like a child." he asked, taking your hand.
"yeah, that's what friends do, they hang out." you told him, unlocking the door and leading him inside.
"friends?" he asked, stopping in his tracks.
"friends."
