This is the first day of middle school, and the first year I am going to a public school. I don't know what's going to happen or if I'm going to make any friends. All I know I'd that I'm diffrent. I'm not like everyone else. I can do something others can't.
"Wake up. You don't want to be late." Dad says. I get up and get ready. "Are u sure u want to go?" Mom asked. "Mom, I'll be fine." I tell her. She kisses my cheek and let's me go. "Good luck." My sister taunts. I walk down the street to my school. As I walk I think to myself. "I am just like everyone else." I open the door and enter the school. "It's so big." I say. "That'd the point." The girl says. "What's ur name?" I asked. She walks up to me. "I'm Dylan. And ur name is?" She says. "My name is Raina." I say. "U must be new here." Dylan says. "Yeah. I'm a new student." I say. "I can show u around if u want." She offers. I smile and walk be side her. "Thanks." I say.
We walk down the hall and she shows my were everything us. By the end she takes me to my locker. "Well, I have to go to class. Nice to meet u." Dylan says. I wave to her, then she walks down the hall. I open my locker and put my bag away. I look at the locker next to me. "I wonder whos locker that is." I say. After I had said that a tall, guy walks to that locker and opens it. He had brown hair and green eyes. Then he looks at me. "Umm, sorry for staring." I say. He takes out his books and closes his locker. "Its ok. What's ur name?" He said. I blush. "My name, Raina."I mutter. "U don't have to be shy. Mine is Jacob." He says. Then he starts to walk down the hall, but he looks at me. "Where's ur class?" He asked. "Um, I don't know." I respond. He walks to me and walks with me to the office. Thats when I get my scedule and walks to my first class with him.
As I enter the class, everyone looks at me. The teacher looks at me and gets up from his desk. "You must be Raina." He said. "Um, yeah." I say. Jacob walks to his seat. The teacher takes me to my seat. I sit down. I was sitting next to some girl and Jacob. After I had sat down, It felt like the time had flyed. When the bell rang everyone left, other than Jacob. We both walk out the room and started to walk down the hallway. "What's ur next class?" He asked. "Um, art." I say. "Oh." He says with disappointment. We say our good byes and walk diffrent ways. I walk to the art room, and look around. I sit down in the corner of the room. The teacher passed out paper and told us what to do. I sat there just drawing. When I looked down I had draw something else. I had drawn what was on my mind, and that was Jacob. The girl next to me laughed. "Sorry, but ur good." She said. "Thanks." I say. "I'm Carla. And u are?" She says. "I'm Raina." I say.
As I finish each and ever class it, I felt good. I felt like I was normal. I only had one class left, and that class was science. I walk in and someone had cought my eye. He was tall, had dark brown hair and brown eyes. As I stared at him, I must have ran into a desk because I had dropped all of my books on the floor. I kneeled down to pick up my books. When I was picking up my stuff I say someone in the corner of my eye. I look up and see him. He offers his hand, and helps me up. "Are u ok?" He asked. I smile, "yeah." I say. He walks back to his friends and start to talk to them, they must have been talking about me because they were all laughing. The teacher comes into the class and everyone sits down. She shows me my sit. I sit down and put my head down. I was sitting down next to him. The teacher starts to talk about the lesson we were on. Then i look at him. "Um.. what's ur name?" I asked. He looks at me. "My name is Jake." He says. "Mine is Raina." I say while smiling. Then I realized the teacher was standing in front of us. "Are u done?" Ms. Newcastle said. "Yes miss." I say. Everyone laughs. "No one talks like that anymore." The girl says.She puts her hand on my should. "You can leave if you need a break." She offers. I get up and run out of the room,crying. I run down the hall and into the girls bathroom. I go to the mirror. "I look like a fool." I say with anger. I turn on the water. I put my hands in the water, steam comes from the sinks.
I look at my hands. They were normal looking. I turn the water off and walk out the bathroom. Jake was standing outside the bathrooms. "What are u do I here?" I say. "I wanted to make sure u were ok." Jake said. He walks me back down to the class. For the rest of the class period, the teacher let me tell the class about me. I told them that I was home schooled. They asked me questions and some of them made me laughed. When class was over I walked to my locker got my stuff, before I left I talked to Jacob. When we finished talking. I walked home and told my mom how great school was. I actually felt normal.
I wake up in the morning. Everyone was still sleeping. I get up and get dressed. I wore a pair of jeans and a red shirt. I put on my sneakers that were also red. I grab my bag and sit on the coach. I sat down and watched TV for 30 minutes, then got back up. I went into my room again and grab a headband. I put it on and look in the mirror. "Nice." My dad tells me. "Thanks." I say. I walk to him and give him a big hug. "Don't forget not to tell anyone." He says. "I know." I respond. I walk to the living room and grab my bag. "Bye, see u later." I yell. I walk out the door and start to walk to the school again. On the way I saw Jacob. "Hey." I shout. He walks toward me. "Hey. How are u?" He says. "I am great." I say. "That good." He says. Then he looks at the ground. "What's wrong?" I asked. He looks at me and then grabs my arm. We walked to the woods. "Do u promise not to tell anyone." He says. I nod. Then he raises his hand and pieces of the ground come raising up. "Are u serious? That is so awesome." I say. He puts him hand over my mouth. "Please be quite." He says. I remove his hand. "Ok. And can I trust u?" I say. "Of course." He says. As I move a flame comes slowly up from my hand. "Now that is awesome. We are benders." He said with excitememt. As I was showing off, I trip and a ball of flame goes straight up.
Then a stream of water comes and puts the flames out. "Looks like I came on time." Dylan said. As Jacob helps me up, she comes out from behind the tree. "You need to learn how to control those flames." Dylan says to Jacob. "That was me." I say. She looks at me. "Are u serious?" She says. "Yeah." I say. I look at Jacob and nod. "Well I have to get to school." She says. Then she runs toward the school. "We should be heading that way too." Jacob said. We walk out of the woods and walk to the school. We talk to each other at our lockers and at class. When class was over, we hugged good bye and walked our separate ways. I walked to art class and sat there. Then the teacher walked in and two students where behind her. "These are the new students from Paris." Mrs. Velenri said. The looked around and sat next to me. "Hi." I say with a smile. "Hi bitch." The first girl said. "I'm Colten. And that's my sister, Crystal." She says. Colten had very short black hair with blue tips. Coltens eyes were a very light blue.Crystal had long, ombre hair with dark blue eyes. "Why is your sister so mean?" I say. Colten looks at Crystal and laughs.
