I often wonder what goes through the minds of people, especially when a certain situation arises. In some cases, I don't think there is a right or wrong reaction. As it is with humans we can all react unpredictably just like our counterparts, animals.

Some time ago, when humans hadn't evolved, when we couldn't speak as we do today, how did we communicate. Some believe it was by a series of grunts or moans, others believe by some kind of basic sign language. What I believe is that humans were always able to speak perfectly clearly.

We often look to the stars and think or imagine what other worlds would be like, is there a world out there where dinosaurs still live and rule the lands and seas? Is there another world just like earth where our other selves, doppelgangers live? Or what if our doppelgangers already live on this very same planet. What if they are experiencing the same thing we are feeling? What if we are telepathically connected? What if that voice we hear in our heads is our other self telling us that we can do this, we can make it?

There are so many questions that will likely never get answered while humans still exist. For now, we continue to thrive in our different ways be that by career paths, or by destroying the planet we call home. All it takes is one person to start a negative train of destruction. Yet it will take several people to correct it, or maybe hundreds and thousands, no one ever really knows.

This story starts in pretty much that way.

In a faraway land of an unknown origin, civilisations got along without any quarrels or disruptions, arguments were resolved quickly and fairly. The world was clean and fresh, countrysides were adored and well protected, old castles still stood tall and proud, just like in the days of old. The Queen of the land owned most of them as was within her rights, a few owned by ancient families that had survived through the generations. As was such a family...

Jonathan Colman wanted nothing more than to make his father, Sir James Colman proud. His father, however, had no interest in his only child, the heir to his legacy. Jonathan to him was an embarrassment ever since he failed to full his role in an arranged marriage, this in his father's eye was a disgrace. If Sir James had had his way he would have hanged his son. Jonathon was in love with someone else. A red-haired green-eyed beauty from the other side of the country, her name was Annabelle.

Annabelle's parents did not like the Colmans, because of what they perceived to be stuck up ways. When in fact they were just as bad as each other. The Colmans made there as the longest and original sea travelling folk, the merchant navy. Annabelle's family surname was of old, ancient origins, linked back to the Druid times, her surname was Merlin. The Merlin's were known in some capacity as Medic's, the Queen's medical practitioners. Annabelle's ancestors were all capable of healing through magic, some also had their special abilities. Some could summon the elements to do whatever they wanted, others could calm and control animals. Annabelle, however, was different, in every way possible. So much so that she had never told a soul, not even her parents.

Once the parents had found out that their children had fallen in love they banned and forbidden from seeing each other ever again.

"Jonathon, you know your father won't accept this, you must do as he wishes or he will continue to make things harder for you!"

"It doesn't matter anymore mother, he is losing his shipping fleet. They are being attacked and destroyed. Father is none the wiser as to who is behind it or why. I can help him."

"How Jonathon? You can't wield a sword or a bow and arrow."

"Well mother I'll just have to learn then won't I?"

Jonathon grabs his jumper from the back of a shabby well-worn chair as he walks out of his home. Grabbing his horses reins, he slowly walks down a narrow path guiding his mount. Upon reaching a side gate in the courtyard wall he looks back to his father screaming and pulling at his hair at whatever distressing news he'd just heard.
