When I left the kitchen I went into Tyler's room with a couple of novels and I've been reading since then.
So far my new 'housemates' haven't been up to any funny business. Though it's only been two hours.
I hear a knock on the door.
"Come in," I say and Jace's head peaks in.
"Hey," he says as he enters.
"Hi!" I say.
"Reading huh? I didn't figure you as a nerd," says Jace picking up a book. "Or a sci-fi fan."
"I'm not. I'm just bored," I say sitting up.
"Why don't you watch tv or something?" he asks. "Lemme guess. You want the others to get used to the idea of you being part of the team."
"Have you gotten used to that idea?" I ask.
"Does it matter?" he asks sitting on the bed.
"Yeah. It does. If you have gotten used to it then maybe you can convince Liz and Marcus to get used to it too.," I say.
"Why do you even care what they think? Tyler and I already like you and that's half the team," says Jace.
"So you like me huh," I ask with a smirk.
"Sorry to break your heart but not in the way you think," he says.
"Why not? I mean look at me — I'm hot. I even drool when I look at myself in the mirror."
"You're not my type," he says.
"Ouch," I say pretending to be hurt physically. "So what is your type?"
"It's definitely not you," he says standing up and my jaw drops. "I got you some clothes. The shops are closed so I borrowed some clothes from Liz since you two are a similar in size."
"Did she give them to you or did you steal them. Liz doesn't like me at all and I'm sure she wouldn't give me her clothes," I say.
"I convinced her to lend you some clothes and she had to listen to me after all I'm her older brother," says Jace.
"Ugh. Older brothers. They're the worst," I say rolling my eyes and Jace chuckles.
"Thanks," I say accepting the cloth bag.
"I got some dye from the corner store. There wasn't any black left so I got you dark brown instead," he says.
"It's cool," I say.
There is an awkward silence between us.
"I'm gonna go now. Happy reading," says Jace as he walks to the door.
"Thanks."
Jace walks out of the room and closes the door after him.
I apply the dye on my hair then 20 minute I go to the bathroom where I take a cold shower and I rinse my hair as well. I decide to cut my hair so it reaches jaw length. There is a dryer in the bathroom so I dry my hair then I oil it.
I look at myself in the mirror with the new hairstyle.
"Damn mama, you look hot," I say to my reflection.
I exit the bathroom and I walk bath to the room. As I pass by the staircase it sounds like everyone is in the living room watching wrestling.
When I get to the room I put on a t-shirt and some sweatpants. A few minutes later I hear a knock on the door.
"Dinners ready," says Tyler.
"Okay. I'll be down in a second," I say.
I wear the flip flops and I go downstairs. Everyone is in the living room eating in front of the tv.
When I enter everyone looks at me.
"Oh. I see you ditched that ridiculous hairstyle of yours," says Liz.
"Like seriously ,if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all," I say to her.
"Oh and where did you hear that? Tom and Jerry?" she asks.
"Liz quit being a bitch," says Jace and Liz rolls her eyes.
"You look nice," says Marcus with a straight face.
"Thanks," I say.
"I think so too. The new color brings out your eyes," says Tyler.
"Thanks Tyler. That's so sweet," I say as I sit down. "Is that my food?"
"What do you think?" asks Liz rudely.
I roll my eyes and I take the plate. I start eating the salad.
"Aren't you afraid that I might have poisoned you? I'm not exactly your biggest fan," asks Liz.
"I know you not that stupid," I say as I take another bite of the salad and I chew it loudly while looking at her.
