CHAPTER 1 Part 1

ALEXIS

For werewolves there is one day that brings joy in our hearts as much as celebrating our birthday and shifting for the first time does and that's the day you find your mate. We all look forward to that day, well not all of us but majority. of course there is that small percentage that couldn't care less whether they find a mate or not but I fall under the majority of those that wait eagerly for this special day. The day I turn 17 will be the beginning of my search for my mate and I pray to the moon goddess that she doesn't make me wait too long.

"Do you think you'll get mated to anyone of high rank, maybe an Alpha or a beta even a gamma?" my friend Valerie asks excitedly as she munches on a cupcake while we walk home from school

"Well... I hope its an Alpha, you know how fine they are and their possessiveness, I want a mate who will sweep me off my feet and make me feel like the only girl in the world " my other friend Liz chips in

"I really don't care if its anyone of high rank or not, I just want someone who will love and accept me for who I am, hopefully good looking too" I wink and we all giggle

"Lets hope your knight in shining armour shows up at tomorrows event and sweeps you away while showering you with lots of kisses, it will be the perfect birthday present! " Liz says, she's a hopeless romantic

"Maybe it will be someone from our pack, there's no doubt that we have the hottest guys in the pack. Damn now I cant wait to turn 17" Valerie says as we all hug and part ways.

I walk in the house and I'm immediately drawn in by the smell of chocolate muffins coming from the kitchen, I drop my bag on the floor after closing the door and follow the smell "hmm it smells delicious" I say as I reach for one in the bowl.

"Yes, please go ahead and indulge on all those germs on your hands!" my mom says as she gives me a look of disapproval and I just shrug and continue eating.

"germs can be good for strengthening the immune system you know" I say as I pick my bag up and run to my room to continue daydreaming about tomorrow

"Continue being a smartass, I won't nurse you back to health when you get sick

" I know you love me"I smile widely at her

The following evening my friends came to help me get ready for the ball, a lot of wolves from neighbouring packs will be coming and this is the perfect opportunity for me to meet my mate. Mom helped me pick out an elegant black dress that goes all the way down to my feet, it hugs my curves and reveals very little cleavage, something I think my dad decided on.

Valerie chose black stilettos to match my dress and Liz did my make-up which consisted of a bit of foundation and cherry matte lipstick. Im not really big on make-up and my mom always says Im a natural beauty.

"Oh my gosh Lexi! You look amazing" Liz says as she clasps her hands together

"You look so beautiful my Angel, blessed is the man who will be your mate" my mom says as she looks like she's about to shed a few tears

"no waterworks mom, you promised"

"I know, its just you're so grown, my babies are now 17 years old" she says

"Glad to see you haven't forgotten about me mom" my twin brother says as he walks in wearing a black suit with a white shirt and black tie. He looks like he just walked out of the men in black movie

"I could never forget you son, I mean I had to go through extra pushing in the labour ward because of you" she says as she smiles warmly at him and the rest of us laugh. At that moment Alex freezes and closes his eyes and the room goes silent.
