Autumn walked out of the university into the cold air. It was the first December at college. Autumn signaled a taxi and got in. There was no reason for a car, and she had a couple friends who also didn't have car and had a different schedule. Autumn didn't mind though. She enjoyed taxi rides. They were the best part of the day where she could go over her day. Plan tomorrow.

Autumn walked in the big brick building, and made her way to her dorm room. As expected, her roommate was watching TV on her computer and eating mac and cheese.
While they discussed the season ending of Grey's Anatomy, a boom shook the building.

Autumn looked out the window expecting a car crash or maybe even a science experiment gone wrong. What Autumn didn't expect was fragments of dead bodies all around and the building engulfed in flames.

She scram causing Kara to come to the window. Cries echoed from the debris below. The entire first floor was submerged in flames. Sirens filled the air but the fire was creeping up. Students where climbing up the sides of the building or crawling out and jumping. If the were lucky enough to not be surrounded by fire. A girl whom was in Autumn's class that Autumn always paired up with and shared scores with was crying. She could see her trying to scale the building to Autumn and Kara's room. Her hand slipped causing her feet to dangle a firefighter that had gotten on a ladder pulled her down to safety. Another girl, not so lucky had fallen in to the ball of orange from above. Autumn could hear her cries from the fire. suddenly they stopped and the hand that was once waving was lowered back down. It seemed as if the entire school had froze. The face of the girl was still stuck in her head. Where she knew this was her end. There was a rumble from below and their neighbor Grace had came in. Tears ran down her face.

At the time Autumn hadn't thought of what had happened or how they were going to get out. She just knew she needed to act. She needed to act now.
Autumn had never realized how cold it really was until she was climbing down the custodial ladder from the third floor. Her hands were numb making it almost to easy to slip and fall and ultimately die. Kara was already at the bottom holding the ladder with Grace. The entire floor was acting as fast as they could. Since the back wasn't entirely engulfed in flames, they got out that way. Autumn remembered the last time the ladder was used. She was thinking how horrible it would be if someone fell of the ladder and died. Now she didn't think of the custodial crew member on the ground, she thought of herself. The firefighters at the bottom by them. Had opened three other windows by the time Autumn had gotten to the bottom so most of the floor should have been evacuated. Autumn made her way to the front by the paramedics trying to stay next to Kara. Crying mobs of students were huddled together. I tilted my head wondering if any of them ever suspecting this could happen.

Autumn wasn't sure what this was. It seemed like an explosion but maybe it wasn't. Maybe this was not real.
