It was now after Christmas break at Hogwarts and I nor anyone with me that night in the forest was the same. The break had been nice like it always was but my mind continuously wandered back to who, or what, that hooded figure could've been throughout our entire trip to Greece with the Greengrasses.
After classes one day I was approached by Draco who propositioned me with an idea.
'So Pucey, you know how nobody will tell us anything at all about what's going on since the night in the forest.' He says
'Yes?' I reply, curious with where this conversation is leading
'Well,' Malfoy says 'I've been hearing whispers about Potter and his goons sneaking around the forbidden corridor and the restricted section in the library.'
'Okay, so where are you going with this Malfoy.'
'Since you asked Pucey, I'm willing to let you accompany me on this adventure.' He says a little to confidently for my liking, wanting to knock him down a few pegs I reply
'And who said I wanted to 'accompany you' Malfoy?'
'Oh sod off Pucey, I know you love me,' he teases 'Let's go see what these losers are up to, come on hurry!'
We walk out of the common room and up the stairs towards the Gryffindor's when we catch a glimpse of the so-called 'Golden Trio' rushing out towards, yep you guessed it, the third-floor corridor on the right hand side. We waited a bit before following them right up to a door which Hermione conveniently unlocked for us already using the Alohomora spell. We enter the room and were greeted by a giant drooling three-headed dog causing Draco and I to run away screaming. We ran all the way back to the dungeons and fell over in a heap laughing uncontrollably. When we finally managed to control ourselves I looked into Draco's eyes and then remembering who I was sitting with, I got up and left to go to the dorm, 'Goodnight Draco,' I said coyly, 'Tonight was surprisingly fun.'
'I guess.' he responded and deep down I knew that Draco also had a fun night, he just refused to admit it.
Around a week had passed since Draco and I's midnight adventure and today was the Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff quidditch match. I knew that I should've been rooting for my house but I was secretly hoping that Hufflepuff would win as Cedric, the team captain, was my mentor and all. Cedric and I had a quick conversation a few days leading up to the match where he asked me to wear his team colour, normally I wouldn't be caught dead in anything yellow but this was different circumstances seeing it wasn't just any Hufflepuff. He finally managed to convince me to represent him in a subtle yellow scrunchie. So ignoring the stares I received I did, even though it horrendously clashed with my brother's spare green quidditch jersey I borrowed for every match. Plus it meant alot to me that he even wanted me to wear it in the first place.
On my way to meet Cedric before the match I ran into Malfoy, 'Looking good Pucey,' He says sarcastically 'Always knew you were soft, now look at you in that horrendous colour!'
'Bugger off Malfoy,' I snear, 'I'm supporting Cedric seeing as he taught me everything I know about Quidditch.'
'Diggory!' he exclaims, 'Not that loser, seriously?'
'Yes seriously, now get out of my way before you ruin any more of what was supposed to be a marvellous day.' I bite back at him as I push pass towards the Hufflepuff common room where I had planned to meet Cedric.
I was almost at the common room before I felt hands wrap around my waist and someone hugged me from behind. I whip my body around to face a smiling Diggory. 'Hey, I like your scrunchie.' he says, beaming at me.
'Hey,' I say timidly, 'Thanks, it's not too bad I guess once you get over the stares.' He laughs, 'Well good luck,' I say wanting this slightly awkward conversation to end, 'I best be taking my seat now.'
'Yeah okay, I'll see you later Blair.' He then pulls me in for another hug and I savour every moment in his arms. Leaving I go and take my seat with Daphne and other purebloods and watch a fairly uninteresting game. Completely unlike the Slytherin vs. Gryffindor match when Harry's broom was jinxed and he went flying everywhere almost falling off his broom, sure at the time I was worried for him but I wouldn't necessarily say me and Potter are mates anymore. Speaking of Harry, I noticed he wasn't playing which made sense I guess considering how he was still recovering from mysterious injuries. I had figured they probably had something to do with that three-headed dog me and Malfoy saw. I didn't think too much into it as it was likely nothing more than Gryffindors breaking rules, as per usual, and attempt to focus on the last game before the end of the school year.
It was now the last day of school for the year and after packing up our stuff Daphne and I made our way over to the train. I looked around for Cedric in the crowd knowing I probably wouldn't get another chance to say goodbye before we hopped on the train as I would sit with all my other friends on the train. Unable to spot him I gave up and attempted to board before feeling a hand on my arm. I looked back expecting to see Cedric but instead seeing Harry, 'Oh,' I said unintentionally meaning to sound rude but knowing it came across that way
'Hi Blair, I know we don't really talk anymore but I miss you and I just wanted to say bye.' He says to me shyly.
'I know, I'm sorry Harry. I don't know what came over me. I just needed space I guess.' I desperately reply
'It's okay, it's my fault too. Anyways i'll see you next year, goodbye.' He says to me
'Goodbye Harry, write to me okay?' I say as I kiss him on the cheek before walking away towards my fellow Slytherins who have already found an empty compartment.
'Goodbye Blair.' I hear quietly from a breathless Harry behind me.
