Pre-Prologue: Ikari's Story

The war was still raging on, but I knew that it was coming to an end, because they attacked us. At the heart of our land, the capitol of our nation, Rysearu. I watched with my hands behind my back as the mages appeared around the town, enclosing the people inside. Then I saw them. The Elementals. The dreaded race that was planning on conquering the planet.

Such a childish action. Such an insane notion. I thought, as I drew my sword and turned, ready for battle. The Commander of the army burst in through the door.

"Lord Ikari! the Elementals are--" He never finished that sentence, as I cut him off, not wanting the rest to be said out loud.

"I know. I saw. Get the troops ready, and put the Lieutenant in charge." He gives me a look of confusion. "This is our final stand Commander. If we don't make it out, I want you to know that it has been a pleasure knowing you. Get my wife, and get her out of the town if you can."

"But sir!" I could tell that he wanted to stay, that he wanted to fight. I could tell that if he was to die fighting, it would at least be beside his Royalty, the one he has worked so closely with for most of his life.

Again, I stopped him in the middle of his sentence and I put a hand on his shoulder. "Takeru, you've been a good friend to me and a good commander for even longer. But even with your experience, I cannot let you suffer in this battle. I need you to get my wife and get as far away from here as possible." He gave me a look of sadness and I looked to the side. "I fear that if we lose this battle, then our race might perish and die off completely..."

Takeru looked down, realizing that this is true. Then, after a few silent seconds, he looked up, determination in his eye. That's the Takeru I know, I thought. "Yes, sir!" He said, and he saluted me. I gave him one, solemn nod. "I guess this is goodbye, sir."

I closed my eyes. "Yes, it would seem to be that way."

The sadness flickered in his eyes again before he turned and strode out the door. I opened my eyes. Goodbye, old friend... And may you have luck in rebuilding the wolf warrior race after this is all done... I walked out the door and headed for the front door, my mind set on killing as many of them as I could. When I got outside, I was relieved to find that the people had taken refuge inside their homes, with the exception of a few who stayed to protect their families. I looked to the side and saw the troops marching their way into battle.

The Elementals were not yet here, and I had one last thing to do before the war started. I walked to the plaza and stabbed my sword into the ground, which put up a dome-like shadow barrier around the city that kept the enemies out. It will take the mages a while before they can get that down. That will give us time to set up a defense.

The lieutenant looked over at me and I nodded twice, signaling for the troops to be put in defensive positions. The lieutenant started shouting orders at the troops and they ran to their positions. I walked over to the main entrance to the city, where I would be fighting. I could see that the mages had already begun working on getting the barriers strength down.

As the barrier began to fade, I thought, Here goes nothing. And waited for the elementals to start charging. From what i saw, they were split into four groups that would attack the North, West, South and East sides of the kingdom. The Fire Elementals would be attacking the North, which is where i was. Water was at the south side, Wind to the East, and Earth to the West.

The barrier was taken down and immediately I was dodging fireballs as the Elemental bastards started charging through the gates. All hell broke loose. I sprinted forwards, tearing into three Elementals with one stroke of my sword.

They're goign to see why I am Lord of the Shadow Wolves. I'll kill every last one of them! I turned and slashed another one's head off. Each body that dropped turned into flames and dissipated. A fireball was thrown at me, and i easily deflected it with my sword. I smirked and practically flew forward, stabbing the Elemental in the chest.

I turned and saw that I was surrounded. They shot flames at me, and I was caught in the middle of it. I released an intense shadow that warded off the flames and obscured me from sight. I ran through the shadows, stabbing through one of their skulls and disappeared again, almost as quickly.

Another three fell before one finally predicted my attack. As I came running out of the shadow, I got hit by a fireball, scorching my face and sending me stumbling backwards. At once, the Elementals tackled me, putting me under a pile of them. I could feel the heat as their flames scorched me.

I grunted in pain before sending out a pulse of darkness that threw them off me. Two already wounded Elementals died form the counter, and i was scorched in several places, and my red cape was tattered.

There's too many of them! They just keep coming! I look around as the Elementals get up. As I run forward to attack them, a wall of intense energy hits me and I fly backwards, landing on the ground, winded with a broken leg. No! Not the mages!

As I try and get up, I fall on one knee and then get pushed back down by another wave of energy. I lay, watching as I get surrounded, knowing that this was the end. The mage floated above the group of Elementals that surrounded me. One of them raised their sword, going to plunge it into my chest. I closed my eyes and waited for the end to come. Takeru, please do not let me die in vain... You must restart our race...

"Wait." The mage interrupted my thoughts and the Elemental stepped back while I opened my eyes. "You don't have to die here."

"What do you mean, I don't have to die here?!" I shouted at him. "Two seconds ago, you wanted me dead you ass!"

He smirked, which angered me. "I mean that there is a way you can save yourself." The Elementals stared at him in confusion. It was obvious to see that they had no idea what was going on.

I glared at him. "Oh really?" I said sarcastically. "And what would be this 'way' of yours?"

He took no notice of my sarcastic tone and he began speaking to me, telling me about a plan of his. That's a whole different story, but it started off like this: "Well there's this boy..."
