Louie was staring blankly at the mirror trying to work out how she could pretty herself for the party she was invited to by a complete stranger named, Jake.
She knew that there was no chance of finding a make-up kit in a hospital, not even a simple lip gloss for her pale lips.
She went to the reception area to call her cousin, Rose, to get some help and also to ask her why she didn't have time to even visit her. She knew that Rose was with her before she blacked out but Rose was nowhere to be found, just like the doctor. She was still curious and confused about what happened to her. She wanted to get answers but attending the party without make-up on was the first problem on her to-solve list.
The reception area had a sleek reception desk. It has an industrial lighting which made the area brighter. Behind the desk were two ladies in their late twenties who were working on with their flash computers. On top of the desk, she saw a telephone beside the organised stacks of flyers.
The lady on the reception area who was wearing camel trousers and a floral embellished top was the first one who recognised and greeted her. She politely asked Louie what she needed and permitted her gracefully to use the phone.
She was so annoyed that her cousin wasn't answering her phone.
A man wearing glasses poked her on her shoulders and introduced himself.
"Hi. I'm Jay. You're Lou right?"
"Hi. Sorry. Uhm. Who are you? Did you just call me Lou?",Louie asked in bewilderment.
"Oh. Jake told me you needed a dress and make-up. And I'm here to help you with that."
"Really? Where's Jake?"
"Yes. I'm not sure, Lou. He just asked me to come and meet you, and give this dress and make you pretty for tonight's party."
"But how did you know it was me?"
"He gave me a picture of you."
"What?! He has a picture of me. How come? We just met an hour ago, and I never saw him took a picture of me."
"Maybe he asked his personal assistant to get a picture of you in the hospital's database."
"He has an assistant?"
"Of course, he has one. He's the son of the owner of this hospital."
"But I thought--?"
"No buts. We have no time. The party's on in an hour. Let me get you dressed."
