Mary sat until the moon was high in the sky and the forest was black all around her. She sat and waited for someone to come retrieve her. Someone that cared. But no one came. And so she sat into the the early hours of the morning.

After a while someone had come behind her to see what was the matter. But Mary didn't even look. Didn't care. Didn't want to know. Only back in the vague part of her mind did she know that this was wrong. That she should not go on like this. Finally when that part of her mind broke through the clouds she looked up to see a women with white frail hair and skin, wrinkled. She looked up at the women with pleading eyes.

"What do you want? What may you wish to take that you have not taken already?"

"I mean no harm child," said the women.

Mary didn't wish to talk no longer. She drooped and was consumed by the darkness.

"Have you seen Matthew sir? Its quite urgent."

"Thank you"

"Now don't you be to long. He still has a job to attend to and I hope ye wont be the reason for him to lose it."

"No that wont be necessary." Samuel quickly hurried into the store which he found Matthew sweeping.
