1. The First Day

I woke up with a happy yet disappointing feeling. Today was the first day of my senior year. This year was going to be way different from my first three years; I was going to be going to two schools at once. Half a day at charter school and then the other half would be at my normal high school. Exciting right? A lot of people hate high school-- I love it.

My brain's whack. It's introverted but can't stand being alone. It loves school because it keeps it busy. Without it, its purpose feels gone.

Don't get me wrong, I love summer vacation as well, but I always felt like it was too long. I mean I'm decently normal, It's not like I enjoy the school work. I just feel like the fun moments I've had have made it all worth it. If you find the right people, school really isn't that bad.

I got up to start my daily ritual: Scream, scroll through my phone, take a shower, then get whatever I need for the day. It's not the healthiest morning routine, but I know most of you did the same shit this morning.

Once 7:15 AM hit, I rushed to catch the bus. I'm not very good at catching busses, David knows this.

The bus arrived shortly and I sat right behind David.

"Hey! How was your summer?", He asked to start a conversation.

David was one of my favorite bus drivers. Lots of the kids on the bus didn't like him, he was nice, he just didn't want anyone doing dumb shit. I guess that's a lot for teenagers full of angst to understand.

We exchanged what we did over the summer and then I told him about the school I would be attending. Soon enough, we pulled up to the first school and I got off.

There was a second bus that would take us to the second school. I still have some time, so I might as well go to visit my favorite teacher.

"WASSUP LONG!", I yelled while bursting into his room. I must be one of his favorite students ever.

"Oh great, trouble's back" He pretended to roll his eyes. But then smiled and asked if I was there to write the date on his board. It was something I did last year, and it became an everyday thing.

Once I finished, I said goodbye and let him know that I'd probably come back during lunch. I'm not a fan of sitting in the cafeteria when the school decides to give all of my friends the lunch I don't have.

The second bus came and I was one of the first to get on. I walked towards the back of the bus and sat down. I looked up to see the other kids walking down the aisle, hoping to see a familiar face. I only saw two out of about 20. One I was glad to see, the other not so much.

My friend, Special, sat in the seat next to me. We began talking about what we thought our class would be like. We had chosen an Entrepreneurship program, one of the most popular programs at the school. Somehow though, we ended up on our phones for the rest of the ride.

Now, you're probably wondering who's the second face. Allow me to play you a short memory.

I was sitting in an art class with my best friend. Kids were sat at different tables talking amongst themselves, you know, like normal kids. But there was that one kid. The one running around the classroom with his friends, repeating some annoying shit over, and over, and over again. Each time the words left his mouth, the greater my annoyance for him grew. I ended up leaving that class. But I had already decided- I hate this kid.

I ended up seeing him around high school multiple times after that. It's not like I bullied him or anything, I'm not that mean, but I definitely judged from a distance when I saw him around.

I didn't hate him as much as I had before. I'll probably give him a chance to redeem himself if I have to.

Once we got to the other school, Special went to talk with some people she knew.

"Hey, I'm Nez", I introduce myself.

"I'm Ally"

"And I'm Steph"

We began talking about how excited we were for our classes and then the boy from middle school walked up to us. They all already knew each other so I was the only one that had to introduce myself. So far Sean was keeping his cool.

We went to our classes and they went by fairly quickly. Not much was done today, they wanted to show us around and let us meet all of the teachers before our classes actually started. I walked downstairs to find my new friends and quickly found them standing near the front office.

"It's Wednesday so the bus is coming later. We could get coffee?" One of them suggested.

"Alright!" We all agreed and walked down to the Starbucks just down the street. Once we got there Sean offered to pay for all of our drinks. Except I didn't hear him when he offered, so I ended up paying for my own instead. Oh well. I thanked him anyway.

While we waited for our bus to come back I found out that I have PreCalculus with Sean. Something about him made me want to talk to him. Maybe because he seemed really approachable. He definitely wasn't the same screamy boy he was a few years ago.

In Precalculus, Sean began talking a lot and his inner annoyingness came out. But it wasn't that bad since he was actually being funny this time.

Precalculus quickly became my favorite class. Even though I hate math.
