JENNIE'S POV

I've been worried about Chaeyoung. Her behavior changed a lot these past few days, so I knew she was going through something. I tried to ask her what was wrong a few days back but I sensed that she wasn't willing to say anything yet. I didn't want to push her then but it seemed like she was getting worse so I decided to try and talk to her again.

As the four of us were packing up our stuff for our lunch break, I pulled her aside and told Jisoo and Lisa to go on ahead and save us a seat because I needed Chaeyoung's help. They looked reluctant to leave but they eventually did after I assured them we wouldn't be taking too long. I knew that Lisa and Jisoo had been worried about her too, and that Jisoo had also been especially clingy with her.

Chaeyoung was spacing out the entire time and the conversation didn't even seem to register with her. As soon as she and I were left alone in our classroom, I led her back to her seat. I squatted in front of her with my hands on her knees.

"Chaeyoung?"

She looked at me and I noticed her eyes looked glassy but her face was expressionless.

"Chaeyoung? What's going on?" I asked as my thumbs stroked the side of her knees. I saw a hint of panic flash across her face but it disappeared just as fast.

"Nothing's going on," she said with a nervous laugh as she fidgeted uncomfortably in her seat and avoided my gaze.

"I know you better than that, Chaeng. If something's up, please let me help," I said softly.

She got up abruptly, almost knocking me over, and grabbed her bag. With her back facing me, she quickly said, "I know you guys would help me if there was, but there's really nothing wrong. Don't worry too much, I'm just exhausted. Come on, let's get lunch. I'm starving." She walked out of the room before I could even say anything else.

The rest of the day went on as usual, and after our classes and extracurricular activities, Lisa invited us to her loft. Chaeyoung said that she was tired and wanted to go straight home, so we let her go. Shortly after, we arrived at Lisa's. We ordered take away and settled in the living room. While eating, I decided to bring up my concerns.

"Guys. Do you have any idea what's bothering Chaeng? I'm worried about her," I said, setting my chopsticks aside.

The two exchanged knowing looks. To my surprise, Lisa pleaded, "I think we should tell her, Jisoo. She can help us. Chaeyoung needs all of us."

Jisoo contemplated for a second before nodding and pushing her plate away.

Lisa looked me in the eye before she spoke, "Jennie... Chaeyoung is being blackmailed by Jungmin."

My eyes widened and my breath hitched at what I heard. I was about to interject but she continued, "He recorded them when he was taking advantage of her. We've been trying to make sure she isn't left alone with him because he makes her do things she doesn't want to do."

I saw Lisa's hands curl into fists. "He's possessive, obsessive, and controlling. He's bad news," Lisa scoffed.

"Chaeyoung doesn't know that I know and she told Jisoo in secret because she's afraid that the video would get out. If and when it does, she'll be ruined," she added and let out a heavy sigh. "That's why we haven't done anything too drastic yet. We're still finding a way to help her and to get rid of Jungmin."

Jisoo nodded at this as we both watched Lisa explain, "I don't want to spook him and make him do worse things to Chaeng so we need to tread lightly. I'm sorry we didn't tell you sooner. We're just making sure Chaeng is safe because if Jungmin finds out we know, we don't know how he'll retaliate."
