POV: you, a Dark Guard
You are walking down the dark corridor, on the way to your shift. You work in the Palace of Darkness. You are new here and still don't truly understand this place. You hear the faint sound of dripping water, slowly falling into a deep hole, making no noise again for a long, long, time. You feel the chill of a permanent wind swirling around you, making you shiver in discomfort from time to time. The air smells damp and feels unwelcoming, like that of a dark basement or even a mysterious lake buried deep underground.
You arrive at the cell you were assigned to. Within it, you see two people. One of them has long black hair fading to a pastel rainbow and is reading out of a thick leatherbound book titled "The Entire History Of The Avö Tribe: vol. 1" the other one has shortly chopped orange-red hair and is sitting in the corner, very obviously zoned out from boredom. They both look 14 or so. Kids! You think.
"Hey," you say. "How did you two kids end up here?" the orange-haired one jumps slightly, and the one reading looks up.
"Why do you want to know?'" says book kid.
"Well, you two look young to be in a prison this fortified, and I was just wondering." You say somewhat embarrassed. "I understand if you don't want to tell me. "
Orange looks at you and says in a quiet voice. "How long until you have to change shifts?"
"I'm new here, usually the next guard just comes and I leave, but I'd say about an hour and a half?" you say.
"Ok, we can work with that." Orange grabs Book's and your hand and snaps their fingers. Suddenly there is a bright light
You blink your eyes. When your sight has returned and the three of you are standing in a bright white room, with 5 chairs. "What is this place?" you ask as you sit. As well as Book, who responds.
". . . A place of stories." A picture flashes onto a screen. Orange starts talking.
