Chapter Two:

The next morning came in a flash, sending their alarms into a beeping frenzy. Blaze was the first to awake, hitting the off button with a groan. She hated the mornings.

Fallen just ignored the alarm all together and turned over, stuffing her face into the pillow to try to drown out the annoying noise. It soon went off and allowed her to peacefully go back to sleep, but not for long.

Blaze walked into Fallen’s room, a cup of water in her hands. She had an evil smirk planted on her face as she dumped the freezing cold water onto her sister. It made her laugh to see how fast she got up and out of the bed.

“Oh, you’re going to get it, Blaze!” Fallen snapped at Blaze. She was dripping wet with water now, her hair sticking to her face and not letting go.

Blaze widened her eyes some, and darted out of the room, running into the bathroom and locking the door behind her. Fallen couldn’t do anything about it now. Blaze was safe and secure. Fallen made a promise to herself to get her sister back later that day.

While Blaze was getting ready for the day, Fallen was getting ready as well. She had picked out her clothes; a Beetles shirt, black skinny jeans, and a deep grey pair of combat boots. All she was doing now was waiting for Blaze to get out of the bathroom so she could go in.

The door clicked open and out came Blaze, her jet black hair teased and somewhat spiked. Her neon orange and red bangs were falling into her stunning green eyes. Black eyeliner surrounded her almond shaped eyes as black mascara brightened her eyelashes.

“Took you long enough,” Fallen spat at her, still annoyed and dripping wet. Blaze just smirked as she walked by to get ready.

Blaze stood in her closet, and heard the bathroom door lock and the shower turn on. She hummed to herself as she picked out her outfit for the day; orange high top Converse, grey skinny jeans, and a bright orange t-shirt with blood red letters reading, “Feel the blaze” with flames around it. It was probably her favorite shirt without a doubt.

By now, Fallen was out of the shower and fixing her hair and makeup. Black liner rimmed her waterline and lash line. Light green eye shadow was spread in a neat pattern across her lids. Black mascara made her lavender eyes shine brightly in the morning sun.

She had her straightener on high and was combing through a pink streak. Her hair had all kinds of highlights, and was jet black as well. It was to her chest, just like her sister’s was. Once she was done, she turned it off and let it cool down.

“Are you ready?” Blaze asked her sister when she walked out of the bathroom.

“Yep. Let’s go. I’m still going to get you back for what you did, though. When you least expect it.” She eyed her sister carefully, a small evil smirk forming at her lips. This made Blaze roll her eyes and set off out the door without another glance or word.

Fallen hurried after her sister, easily catching up with her. With them being tall, running was far from their minds.

They walked to school, backpacks slung over their right shoulder, each step they took was the same distance and foot. They truly were sisters, but not many knew they were twins considering they had different personalities and looked completely different.

Within minutes, they were walking through the school doors, many people greeting them with high fives and hellos. You’d think they were popular by this, but they actually weren’t. It was just the time of month, the science fair time of month, should I say.

Everyone knew they had a tradition; not to do anything and still pass. No one else could this, though. They’d always fail or have to actually do something. No know knew why they were so special. Yet, Fallen and Blaze knew exactly why. They hadn’t told anyone about their parents’ death. Only the teachers knew, and that was why they were treated like they were.

They turned some corners, and found themselves in the gym. Poster boards and projects were lined up against the walls. They entered with nothing but smiles on their faces.

The teachers caught sight of them both, smiles appearing on their faces as well. The two girls walked over to them. The teachers greeted them, not moving at all. This made Fallen and Blaze confused.

“Excuse me, but why aren’t ya’ll moving? It’s really confusing me.” Blaze spoke up, fed up with them for some reason.

“Oh! We had a surprise for you two. I guess we forgot about it until just now.” The gray haired man put on a smile.

Blaze and Fallen shared a glance with each other, even more confused.

The teachers moved, revealing this… circular machine behind them. It was glowing green. Little buttons were on the side and lighting up.

“What is it?” Blaze asked, slightly backing away from it. Truth be told, Fallen didn’t like it much either.

“The very first time machine.” The teachers replied happily. It sent the girls’ faces into shock.

As the teachers rambled on and on about it, something began to happen. Something the two couldn’t explain, but it felt like a pulling sensation within them, beckoning them to go to the machine and jump right in.

The teachers were not watching the girls now; they were too busy speaking amongst themselves about the machine and what it can do.

The feeling of the pulling was crazy now. The two twins had no control over it and felt themselves stepping closer to the machine.

Before they knew it, they were stepping into it, completely ignoring the threats of the teachers. They couldn’t help it, they were under some spell, so it seemed. They hadn’t even blinked once. And now they were falling, free-falling that is. They landed on the sandy floor, ‘oof’s’ coming from them both. They had made it back into reality, and the pull was no more.

They were in the future, in the desert, and alone. They had no clue what on earth had happen. Yet they soon would find out.
