LISA'S POV
I woke up feeling giddy. I wanted to see Jennie again, even though we've practically spent every day for the past month together. Jisoo, Chaeyoung, and I were going to spend our day at Jennie's house. The duo had been bugging us about it because according to them, the four of us hadn't been spending much time together. I felt guilty for not hanging out with them as much as we used to since Jennie and I became official.
As soon as I was ready, I drove to Jennie's house. I greeted her with a chaste kiss when I arrived, then saw Jisoo and Chaeyoung already there. The four of us watched movies and feasted on different snacks and pizza. Jisoo and Chaeyoung told us about some things we've missed and afterwards they asked about how our relationship was going, teasing us relentlessly when either of us blushed at different parts of our stories. They made us both promise to spend more time with them and we agreed.
Night time came and suddenly, Jennie's parents came home. As soon as we heard them calling Jennie from the garage, she let go of my hand and put a distance between us. There was a pang in my chest as my eyes found hers. She turned away from me looking nervous and pale and hesitantly answered her parents. Shortly after, they entered the living room.
"Oh, I didn't realize we had company," Mrs. Kim said in surprise. "How are you, girls? Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Kim." I greeted as I stood up and bowed.
I could see Mr. Kim eyeing me suspiciously from behind his wife.
"We'd love to, Mrs. K!" Jisoo replied enthusiastically as she clasped her hands together.
"Yeah! We missed your cooking, Mrs. Kim," Chaeyoung agreed with a grin.
"Do you need help with anything, Ma'am?" I asked, ready to be of some help.
"No, I can manage. I'll call you all when everything's ready," Mrs. Kim answered with a gentle smile.
Jennie's parents left the living room and I sighed. I avoided looking at Jennie while the girls continued telling their stories. I can feel her glancing over at me with worry and guilt but it wasn't the time nor place to talk.
I still clearly remember the last time I saw her parents so I understood why she pushed me away, but I can't help this heavy feeling in my chest. I knew, even if we didn't talk about it, that she wouldn't be open with her parents about the nature of our relationship. I knew, yet I didn't prepare myself for how much it would hurt.
After about an hour, Mrs. Kim called us all to the dining table where she just finished setting up. Jennie sat beside her father and in front of her mother. I opted not to sit beside her and took the seat beside Chaeyoung instead, trying not to be too affected by the look on her face.
"Dig in, girls. I hope you enjoy the food," she said warmly. The duo eagerly put food on their plates and started to eat. I put a small amount on mine, not having much of an appetite.
"So, do you girls have plans for the vacation?" Mrs. Kim asked after everyone got their servings.
"I might go home to Australia to visit my family, but nothing is set in stone," Chaeyoung answered.
Jisoo responded after swallowing, "I'm working part time during the summer. I got a job at a café near my apartment."
Mrs. Kim turned to me, waiting expectantly for my answer.
"The foundation I work with is handling different events this coming month so my hands are going to be full."
"Oh... that's great." She smiled thinly before turning to her daughter. "What about you, honey?"
