The bomb finally hit their villages and towns, and the bodies of the dead people scattered around the place. It was horrifying for Howard. He had never seen a scene so gruesome, and terrifying as this. He'd never expect this to come true, but it did. This was his worst nightmare.
7 months earlier...
Howard had just turned 12, and it was almost time for high school. His mother, Rhonda, went for a shopping spree for both of them. Rhonda, had to go to
UK and work as an accountant, and Howard needed to go to high school, in a small, but well known school in Manhattan. They said their goodbyes to each other, and then her plane embarked. He then grabbed a cab, going to back Manhattan. It was an hour and a half on the road, but it payed off. He walked up the quartz stairs, into the ceramic floor, and looks to his right to see his best friend from elementary school."Franklin! Dude! It's been so long!" Howard exclaimed in joy.
"My man!"
To which Franklin replied, "How are you man?"
Howard said. "I'm good," he replied.
Their first class was Science. Their topic was compounds, which Howard excelled at, so he answered 3 times and he got all of them right. When the class ended, Franklin and Howard had lunch at the cafeteria, and they talked to each other for 30 minutes. "There has been a problem between the nuclear arms forces, and our government causing several news about how USA might get bombed by a nuclear warhead."
What the hell is this?" Franklin said after reading an article about the nuclear mess.
"Oh--that's actually accurate news" Howard quickly responded.
"Dude, save your breath." Franklin said.
"Nuclear warhead?" he wondered.
Howard's brother served in the military for 10 years, and stopped a nuclear bombing, on America. So then what was this? He paused, thinking about how his mother might be in danger, but the article only said USA, so then what about him?
They then went into a deep silence, so silent that the cacophony of high school life, was barely equal to the sound of a pin drop.
"Hey, man?" Franklin said.
"Yes?" Howard replied.
The two of them just weren't comfortable not talking to each other. So they sat down, silently. The very next period was history, which Howard did the opposite of excel at. He fell behind at history. So he didn't talk to Franklin, which he was fine with because it was class hours anyways, and Franklin didn't seem like he was in the mood of talking either. After about an hour and a half of their teacher babbling about George Washington and his slaves, they finally got finished with the lesson.
"RIIINNNNG!"
The bell went after history classes, and the kids flushed out of the room like a hoard of buffaloes, but this wasn't the case with Franklin. He sat on his chair, looking whiter than white, and traumatized.
"Frank? Buddy?"
Howard asked to no avail.
"Dude, are you okay?"
Howard said worryingly, but still no response. Franklin picks up a marker and writes,
"THEIR COMING FOR US, AND THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO"
Howard wondered at first, but flashed before his eyes was the nuclear warhead, so he asked him,
"You mean the nuclear warhead?"
